To get an idea of how much lift there is (or isn't) I put on an un-trimmed front fender to see where the stock wheel-well is. I'll trim these to match the rear and blend in to the trimmed front grill.

looks great man how much longer you think?

Well, I've got to finish the cage, make a lot of little gussets, brake lines, drive shafts, exhaust, tranny and t-case shifters, tranny cooler, etc. Tons of smaller projects left. I have an unreasonable goal of finishing it by the end of this month, but realistically I'll be happy to have it done by early spring.

That's probably going to be the most bad ass daily driver xj out there when it's done. Your fab work is awesome, thanks for the updates.

I just re-measured the amount of lift from page ten of this thread. I measured 28". My previous measurement was 31" and that was determined to be about 6 or 7" of lift. So now I'm somewhere around 3 or 4 inches of lift. I think that's pretty low for an XJ on 35s with as much suspension travel as this.

With the way those fenders look on the tires, I'll agree. It's only about 3" of lift. That's awesome!

I made my track bar and axle side track bar mount. The track bar is the same length and angle as the drag link, so I won't have problems with bump steer.

I'm digging that trackbar mount... doesn't look like there's gonna be much leverage to tear it off, sweet.

Love the stance, too. Nice and low, that's great. :D

I might have missed it, but can you post the part numbers for the tie rod ends you used?

-Nate

Yeah, I posted it in another thread. I should have put it here.

Tie Rod:
ES2233L for pass side (reamed hole for TRE)
ES2234R for driver side

Drag Link:
ES2027L mounted into reamed hole in the ES2233L
ES2026R at pitman arm

Thanks.

When I built the frame side track bar mount I was planning on a flat top knuckle and high-steer arm, which would have meant a longer, flatter drag link, and corresponding track bar. With the change in plan, this is just where the track bar ended up. I'd be surprised if the mount ripped off the axle, but I am familiar with the forces involved.

Is it about time for an update? :D

It hasn't even been a month yet!

Yeah, I've been finishing up stuff that I mocked up earlier, or just tacked together. Not really much to take pictures of. Today I built a bolt-in brace between the two suspension crossmembers, as well as a bunch of permanent bracing for both crossmembers and the frame work for the flat skid plate.

The transmission mount is done, and the transfer case is put back together with the SYE. I need to swap the transmission out, get a tranny cooler, and some sort of shifter. Then I can run brake lines and build drive shafts and it will be drivable. There's eleventy billion things to finish still, like the cage, the interior, the headlights, the fenders, the fuel filler, the gas tank skid, the rear bumper plating and tow points, etc, etc, etc... :(
