Okay, time to resurrect this. I took a break to work on the basement during the coldest months. That project is mostly done, so it's time to wrap up this build. I need to make a couple lists.

Needed to get it wheelable:
  • Finish cage (B pillar, spreaders, gussets)
  • Fully install transmission and transfer case (find and install missing bolts)
  • Make t-case shifter work (swapped from manual to auto, may need different t-case shifter)
  • Find transmission shifter cable, and install transmission shifter
  • Purchase and install transmission cooler
  • Build and install driveshafts including carrier bearing on front
  • Reinstall power steering lines and fill
  • Reinstall fuel filler
  • Run brake lines front and rear
  • Install front calipers/pads
  • Trim front fenders properly
  • fabricate brackets and install headlights (need to purchase passenger side)
  • Box in rear upper control arm mounts
  • Install new seal and yoke on rear axle
  • Fill engine, transmission, transfer case and axles with fluids
  • Finish rear bumper and tow points
  • Build and install skid plate
  • Weld, weld, weld, then weld some more
  • Install winch rope and solenoid box, trim grill to access clutch lever
  • Exhaust

Needed to get it finished:

  • Paint everything
  • Rebuild rear wheel tubs
  • Build tube fenders front and rear to cover tires
  • Build mud flap brackets
  • Relocate battery and build onboard air system
  • Probably will need to port the steering box and install an assist ram
  • Build boxes around the upper control arms inside the cab

Sweet! You've now reached the point at which you started! :greg:

What do you need to make it drive now? Drivelines and brake lines?

Pretty much, plus a thousand little things.

drive lines
brake lines
pinion seal on the rear axle
fill both axles with oil
find a place to mount the battery
find a place to mount the ECM
put on some sort of air filter
wire the TCM
build an exhaust system
put in a seat or two

Before I can wheel it much I need to finish the cage, put on the winch rope, build the rear wheel tubs, get top springs for all the coilovers, paint all the bare metal, etc, etc, etc.

Almost done! :ugh:

It has brakes and brake lines. :) I did have to cut and flare two hard brake lines. I'm hoping they don't leak, but my previous record isn't stellar. :ugh: It's been a while since I posted any pics, so here's an updated view of the underside. No skid plate yet, but the crossmembers are all gusseted and ready to go.

Looks great Braden, that has to be one of the most well thought out XJ suspensions ever! Nice work, can't wait to see it on the trail. :)

^^ what he said, that looks great!!

You'll be fine w/the brake lines. I can't flare worth a damn, but mine aren't leaking-- just crank 'em down a little more, you'll be fine. :D
