Those are similar to the ones we use here all the time. (actually 59956 is the part number we use)

Do you need an offset one, or a centered one? (if you know)

I think an offset one will fit better. I've looked through all the options, and those are the smallest ones I can find. I actually might be able to fit the cat and muffler between the two crossmembers and just have to snake the tailpipe around the 4 link in back. I found a really compact muffler, but it seems to only be available in a bigger size pipe than I want to use.

The front drive shaft carrier bearing is fabbed up. I just need to build a drive shaft to go between the bearing and the front axle. I also figured out the exhaust (I think it's possible to have one!) and ordered a cat and muffler. The bad news is I ordered a Cherry Bomb muffler. :busted: It's the only thing that I think I have a good chance at fitting anywhere, and any chance of fitting above the skid plate. I found a nice route for the exhaust pipe through the rear four link and out the back, it's just the muffler that's going to suck to fit. If it sounds like total ass I'll try to figure out something else, but the tiny glass pack will at least get me going.

Having a cat in the mix will help quiet it down any, so hopefully it doesn't sound like you put a glasspack on it.

The x drove mine the whole week after I put a cherry bomb on couldn't even tell I changed the muffler.

It's gotten louder now that the matting is blown out, but it's still quieter than a flowmaster.

That's good to hear. This may be even worse than a normal cherry bomb, since there's only 8" of muffler. It's the shortest one they make 12" end to end.

wow that might be a lot louder. Mine's 25". I had to run something narrow since I have the traction bar on the passenger side and the the 9" pinion is offset passenger.

What about angling it across the body: in line with one of the upper links (in front or behind).
(so you can get a longer can in there)

I will barely be able to fit a tailpipe there. There are some other possibilities, but I'm going to try the tiny glass pack and cat and see if it's tolerable. If not I'll try something else.

So, still no pictures. I'm too busy trying to get it working to take pics of it. I did get the front drive shaft done tonight. Man what a pain. It's a 1310 (from a YJ) at the T-case, then a carrier bearing (from an 89 Ford F-350), then a Toyota flange, bolted to a Toyota CV joint (I love these joints), then a mystery slip-spline (may be from the 89 F-350), to a 1330 joint at the axle. It's quite the thing, but it clears the front crossmember and the radius arm in all suspension positions, and there's room to sneak the exhaust (the next major project) around it. Woohoo, I've got 4 wheel drive now! :D

Wow, the front d-line sounds like Frankenstein. Glad it all worked out. Now when is the first official day out?
