Being the "leader" of any organization is a PIA. I have lurked for a long while and observed a lot of your exchanges where opinions were involved. The ONLY one I have questioned was the one with the "anti-club club" where at one point the impression that was given was if you were not a lawyer or specialist for the court room then all UFWDA needed was the guys money. I know from experience that volunteerism plays a large role as well in the minds of the public. Get 'em involved, educate them, then get thier money (haha), as more lawyers are, unfortunately, needed, as well as good comments with scientific backing for the RMP process. There is a legal and a psychological battle to win when it comes to public access. We, as a mechnaized use community, are doing a better job of the legal battle, but the psychological one with the general public remains even at best. One guy doing donuts or a discarded Mickey D's bag on the trail wipes out a full days trail clean up in the minds of the non-mechanized public land user. However, I shared your frustration with the "club" and threw in my dues to U4WDA in protest... (where are my decals!) Besides, if the individual sending the email did not have the guts to sign it and give a phone number, it doesn't count in my book. If he/she has an issue, they can always join up and vote. You'll get mine (even if your not "old")... keep up the good work! Look forward to wheeling with you someday. See ya on the trail....

Thanks for the insightful input... your comments are truly appreciated! :D

Cruizer, if I were you I wouldn't take it to the heart, now if he were willing to communicate it to you as a problem, then yes, but where he gave you a phoney e-mail addy, and has not responded back, just brush it off. I think it was just some bs to try and get you concerned about how you are doing your job as pres. If it were truly valid, wich me thinks...NO, he would have expressed it with more detail or gotten back to you. Like I said, based on what I have seen, you try and see it from both pov's, and your not all vulgar, or trying to say screw the other groups, this means war! So just act like a duck, and let it all just roll off! ;) Keep up the good work.

Kurt I agree with ramcharger, whenever serving the public you are opening yourself to criticism. My Dad was in the state legislature for a while and whenever there was a 'hot' issue he would receive even comments on both sides of the issue. Some were stated nicely, some not so nicely.
The farther your butt is up the pole, the more exposed it is. At least you are on the pole- most of us are still on the ground. :D

Dude, don't worry about what spineless people have to say. If they were half the leader you are they wouldn't be writing nameless/faceless notes to you.

I think thats pretty weak and if someone is that spineless, then I can't say they would offer a positive contribution to the organization. They are probably the same kind of people that see someone toss a beer can (or toss it themselves) but aren't man enough to say something about it.

All that being said, there have been a couple times when I think you've jumped the gun on a thread and said stuff that seemed like a quasi-personal attack when it wasn't needed. Other than that, I think you conduct yourself very well and are easily approachable and extremely knowledgable about land use issues (which is especially remarkable considering your age).

Unfortuately, the only way you can make people like that happy is by pulling the stick out of their ass---but without that stick their spineless body would crumple over to the ground.

It's so cowardly that it makes me laugh.

My opinion may or may not matter, but, I think Kurt is a very informative and involved person within the community. He was one of the few (not only, but few) that was willing to give information to me when I was new on the board. He was also very honest when I was asking about the survivalness of a new 4x4 shop if I were to open one.

Whoever "Bob" is, a spineless chicken feces. He has obviously never been helped by a stranger he has never met. Its his kind of personality thats not needed within an organization.

Maybe I'm wrong but I seriously doubt there is anyone in U4WDA that understands what U4 is all about that doesn't support ya Kurt ;)

The amount of time and energy you put into the Organization and the effort of Land Use is amazing. If everyone else in the Organization (myself included) could put in only half as much effort and time as you do we would be a serious force of "rednecks" :D

BTW, where's my stinkin' stickers

I have been around the assn. for over twenty yrs. I remember when it was the assn. of 4wd clubs. I don't have a lot of time to attend the functions any more but I did go to price and it was a well organized event. From what I see now the assn. is way more involved and organized than in the past. The news letter that just came was the best ever. I want to thank the board members for the job they do (as a former board member I know what kind of effort it takes to do the job) THANKS!!!

Yeah man, I think you are very informative and awesome when it comes to land use issues. My decision to not re-join U4WDA has absolutely nothing to do with you..........and everything to do with my anti-social behavior and getting in touch with my inner self. I still contribute to the blue ribbon coalition and NAXJA, but am more of a silent member.
