You do realize this is 12 years later...and things have probably changed a little...now they make your sh*t so you break your sh*t... :(
You do realize they don't make cherokees anymore too... ;)

I would do the xterra if it were me...

Just referring back to the "reliability in the long run" I think its safe to say a cherokee would outlast any xterra. Agreed they aren't as friendly on the road... but i've personally seen over 20 different XJ's running with 250k+ miles on the stock engine and tranny. No nissan could be so lucky to hit those numbers.

Sure, but the rear door hatch would be whisteling, the motor would be leaking, doors wouldn't shut right, etc.

Now, I've never owned a Nissan before (never thought about it till now) but I've always been a Toyota fan. If Nissans quality is a little under Toyotas, I'll be more than happy.

My guess is that if you looked, you would find plenty of Nissans with higher miles. I know of a nissan pick up with >200K. Several people in the UXOC have Xterras closing in on 100K miles with no major problems and going strong...shouldn't be a problem going to much higher. It is a great truck...can't say that I would agree that the XJs well maintained would do any better than a similarly maintained Nissan or X. I am very pleased with my X. Wish it had more power. If I was in the market, I would buy an X again just for the power in the 05...still, mine does fine on the highway...not supposed to be a race car :greg:

LOL...You guys are too funny...not just you jtaoj, but all you guys, a truck will last forever if it is taken care of right... I know of a Ford, that's right, FORD Ranger with over 400K... Don't matter the vehicle as long as you treat it right... (to a certain extent)

Edit: All you have to do to get your vehicle to last a long time is treat it right...

wish that applied to VW's :) If you look at those cars the wrong way the check engine light comes on.

haha when i said they weren't as friendly on the road... iwas referring to road noise :)....

I will retract part of my statement in saying some nissans will reach a certain mileage... i'm just saying more cherokees would outlast the xterras. Unfortunately for the cherokee, society demanded a smoother riding more road friendly jeep... hence the liberty was born, which in my opinion was a vehicle concieved by accident :)

Just what are you implying??? I know you are up to something...  Yeah, I wasn't pointing at anyone in particular, that is just the straight up truth. Someone may have a vehicle last only 50k, while with someone else may have the same vehicle and it will last 250k. As I said above, it is all in how you, or the person who owned it before you, treat it...

It must have a Toyota/Nissan Engine and tranny in it because I have owned 2 Fords before and you would have better odds at winning the lottery than hitting 400K in a Ford!

 Long live Nissan!

H3 is not on the Tahao platform ;).........

Is it basicly a Colorado pickup? I haven't even looked and wouldn't buy one, just curious.

......and back to Greg's question......I like the Xterra. Seems like a pretty decent, somewhat affordable SUV that still has some SUV heritage rather than AWD minivan like most of the other "new-improved" SUV products out there.

Ya thats what I thought to, But the wife wanted to go check it out, so we went to the dealer and found out that GM built the H3 on an entirerly new chassis.

Oh and I love this place, I have know ill will, nor do I care what people choose to wheel with. To each there own. I was just doing one of those "IMO" deals  , I am a fan of all types of wheeling, so there are all types of rides to accomodate all types of people :) . Not trying to start something.

Peace, and wheel on ;)

Once again thats what I thought. I guess that Lutz guy is making a difference. I wrenched on GM for sometime, and it is very unlike them. But if she wants one? I won't tell her No :D
