What is the deal with all these ancient threads? Some one must have way too much time on their hands to be pulling them all up!

New member who's also an Xterra fan... probably did a search for his favorite rig and replied to both threads about Xterras. :rofl:

Greg you made the right decision by getting a Landcruiser. Those XJ are a complete POS when compared to the FJ80's. I have litterally spent the last week of my life constantly driving my cruiser for work all over the state. In the last 6 days I have put 3162 miles on my cruiser traveling between Logan and St. George and I feel great. No sore back, sore muscles or stiffness of any kind. I feel so good I want to send out a special thanks to Kurt and his team for hooking me up with a great OME HD suspension that rides great. With all this traveling I have been averaging 18 mpg which is good for a landcruiser. Today it was snowing like crazy and I was not worried a bit. The AWD system on these cruisers is so much more refined at high speeds than any of the Jeeps I have ever owned. Enjoy that cruiser Greg and welcome to the club.

:D Thanks Spence, I do wish we had a newer FZJ with the bigger motor and e-lockers, but we've been pleased with the Landcruiser. I've got plans for it, including a 4" OME suspension from Kurt. Good to hear you're pleased with your rig, 18 MPG is amazing for a Landcruiser!

Isn't the one you got like a '92? If so those are still nice rides, they just don't have all the amenaties and of course that 4.5L.

Yep, it's a '92. I bought it because I plan to swap in a Cummins 4BT and I needed the vehicle to be cheap to start with. I'd like to swap in a rear axle from a FZJ to get the rear discs, full float axles and perhaps a e-locker if I can find one for the right price.

That 4bt swap is a good way to go. I would love to do a 13bt and a 5 speed tranny swap when my 4.5 gives up the ghost.

I know. I just thought this was interesting.

Thie thread was from when we were in SoCal, we were looking for a reliable daily-driver for Catherine that could handle very mild trail duty, similar to a 4Runner but less $$$. I think the Xterra would have done the job just fine. We ended up replacing her Montero with an XJ (which was a mistake :rofl: ), then bought her '00 4Runner, which got traded in on the current Dodge tow rig. We both still miss that 4Runner, it was great.

The new 05+ models have loads of horses.. I might have some news come Friday. ;)

I'd love an '03+ V8 4Runner... that's my personal dream exploration rig. That killer front suspension, paired up with some 33's and the V8... ooh man!! Keep us posted on your news. :hickey:

Jason's talking about the Xterra :rofl:

The new 4Runners are really growing on me. I did a build this last year for a local customer, I have to admit I was all about the thing when done, V8, OME, ARB/Warn, roof rack and the thing just looked sleek, it was fast and seems to do pretty decent offroad. I haven't been out on the trail with him but he did fly by Cody and I in the Swell on day.

As for the Xterra, I know nothing about them. At least I can call Jason with questions :D

:eek::rofl: My bad...

After test-driving a Tundra with the 4.7 V8, I was very impressed. That motor and transmission just plain boogie. The fact that it's available in the 4Runner has me thinking. A slight body lift and an OME suspension will allow 35's... the suspension is similar to the Tacoma coil-over type stuff, which has impressed me with high speed travel. Not to mention the 7000 pound towing capacity, massive 4 wheel discs, etc. Toss on some bigger tires, bumpers, sliders, winch and a snorkel and I'd be happy. They're not that expensive either... I'd love to have one. :greg:

That 4th gen that you pictured is amazing.

True, looks like I'll experience Nissan for a bit.. 265hp, rear locker, loads of interior storage space, fitment of 33's without lift, and a 75k mile full warranty. I think it'll be an adventure.. Right? Right? :)

From what I hear, that 265 HP doesn't feel like it at all.....but I have no personal experience, so I'm not going to post in this old thread. :eek:
