I'm building myself a family rig similar to jaydens but better 😆 .5.3, Whipple, th400, atlas4.3, 14 bolts with 05 knuckles, 40 spline. @BeepBeep fabricated us a baby boy (I helped). View attachment 173025i picked my axles up from the sandblaster yesterday.2005-2008 have stronger knuckles and inner cs. I have one 09 housing and one 05-08 housing. Ima put the stronger crap on the rear. I'd guess the strength difference is within 10%

05 inner C> kingpin inner ci got all my hubs drilled to standard 8x6.5Made some grease zerk plates to replace the ABS sensor holes. You can pump grease into the unit bearings here. I got my steering parts cut.My atlas showed up. I gonna get the axles done before i start the chassis.I got some diff covers cut and welded out today.

yes they are its too bad FoMoCo had to start making the knuckles in 09. They are quite a bit weaker.

Pics of the 09' FoMoCo knuckles. Thinner around the ball joints, thinner where my 05-08 highsteer steer plates weld on, and the gigantic window around the lower balljoint. Chunk of 3/8 Ball joint eliminators Stacking them out. That was alot of welding. As much as id like to tig weld these it would be too cumbersome considering the 400* preheat and post heat i give these as well as the pounds of weld i put into each one inside and out. I try and over kill these everytime i do them. I designed these plates to have a neutral Ackerman angle and they turn 45* with a 9" ram. The rusty set are for my powdercoater.

I don’t follow SD60 threads super close but this is the first I’ve read of FoMoCo knuckles and the speed holes. Still beef, just not as much beef? Disappointing that cost, material, weight savings ruin a perfectly good thing.

Still beefy. Ima run them on my front axle. They are still massive compared to the kingpin stuff and i have throughly tested the limits on king pin strength. The 09 inner Cs are also weaker than the 05-08.
