Don't forget about us Boneheads working at the other location.....

Budweiser will work. ;)

Dropped by yesterday Brett and Russ gave me the grand tour.
The frame is looking good.

Congrats man. Sorry I have been AWOL for awhile and missed it.

I may swing by Sat. or next week and see if I can provide some bonehead labor and cold refreshments.

Is that at your place?
You better hold off until after work or you might get even more creative with the body work :)

I'm sure the pics don't do it justice, but it looks awesome BC.

Front axle gears are all set up, but I won't have time to assemble the rest of the axle. (all the outer parts are at the work location, the axle and gears are at my house)

I'll deliver it to Amos tomorrow or Saturday morning, if anyone wants to volunteer to reassemble a D44 for installation. :)

I can probably do that on Sat. afternoon. Might drive the 'Jeep' down with the MTRs on..... (so far, no tire shake like the SXs)

Cool, thanks Carl & Marc! It still needs a tie rod, rod ends, drag link, etc before it can get the ram assist. Probably best to do all that before we put it in, right? Or does it matter?

WaaaHOOOOO Progress!!!

Last Saturday it seemed like "one step forward, three steps back"

This week has sucked for getting down there. TDMK, and I'm not even RadJeeper. I've got a scout camp this afternoon and tomorrow morning, but I'll be there from 3pm 'til dark. (I'll come sooner if I can get back sooner).

Alan who?? :D :D :D Good to see you're still kickin'! Come by anytime! Russ said you'd stopped by and said you were in a YJ, and I thought maybe you'd changed rigs AGAIN! (Bart corrected, said it's still the CJ - how's it running?)

Let's get it to 'roller' status if you've got the old stuff. You can replace easily when it's on the rig.

Sweet! Thank you!!!

You still got the pinion? Oh wait, I think it's still on that table. We gotta get some pics of that in this thread. It's unbelieveable! I think the pics are on Russ'ss'ss camera of it in the housing.

We've got 2 sets of "old stuff" at this point, the stuff from my old axle, and the stuff from the Blob axle since my housing was toast. EZ pulled the pass side flat-top with the steering arm off my old one, it needs to go on the new one. The tie rod from the old one is toast.

Here's the recipe that Carl gave me:

Tie rod: 1-1/4" x.281 wall or .219 wall (preferred) 7/8"-18 thread left & right
sleeved with 1-1/2 x .120
Tie rod ends: ES 2010 R/L or ES4532 L / 2234 R
Drag link: stock chevy drag link ends (there are some on the axle doner in the BLOB) I ASSume the drag link ends are the same 7/8"-18 thread.

Rats, I didn't write down the name of the tie rod guy that Carl told me...

That 'recipe' should work well. I think that's what I'm running and while it's not ultra experienced, it's pretty stout and I doubt I'll have issues with it.

I'll put on whatever is there and you'll have 'something'. We can add the new parts later if they're not there, but it'll be a 'roller' front axle before I leave if all the parts are there (I'm 98% sure we can make it happen--gotta leave the 2% for something strange popping up).

Don't we wanna weld on the tabs for the ram assist while it's out, so that we don't have to weld upside down? (not really sure why I'm saying "we"...)

Nah, doesn't matter. Might want to clean the goo off the axle before it's holding up a Jeep, but other than that everything else can be done easily enough after installation.

You bet...that's something I CAN do. Should have done it yesterday, but I spent the time cutting out the pieces for the front spring hangers. I need to cut out a couple gussets for the front, and the pieces for the shackle mount.

btw, the pattern looks GREAT! Nice work!

It's looking great so far. You gonna post up more photos? You guys are doing awesome with the timeline you've been working with!

Yup, they're kickin' some butt!

I gotta get the pinion pics from Russ. BC's probably got some pics...

Not much to take pics of on the frame...still need to get the front suspension mounts, tcase mount and motor mounts done. Then stuff will happen pretty quick!

Hey, while digging out the 454 flywheel, my old Sun tach, the 'puter and such, I found the AC compressor that was on the 454...that I can use for an air compressor. I know it's not as good as the York, but it's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

I figure I need to find an inline oiler and filter. Grainger has this one:
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/itemDetailsRender.shtml?ItemId=1611628678

I've already got a pressure switch...and a tank or two.

(I don't think this part of the project will be done before EJS...)

The dash went back under the knife, though BC's basically got the body done now.

I snagged a Sammy ebrake lever assembly to use on it, since there won't be enough room for the stock e-brake, roll cage and clutch pedal, especially when you take my size 13 foot into consideration, especially in the winter (Sorels).

The 350 is GONE, hope it works as well for RP as it has for me. Thanks, RP!

I need some TJ front marker lights...anyone have any laying around?
