cool. Just remember, all zero degree bags are not created equal. And usually zero degree bags mean you'll survive at zero degrees, not be warm. :)

I'd recommend talking to Mesha on here before buying one. I'm a fan of down but synthetic bags have lots of great properties as well. I slept in my marmot down bag last weekend under the stars in 20* weather and I was toasty. But that had a lot to do with my pad as well.

I would suggest to those who may be cold as well since no-one is backpacking in to bring an extra Nalgine bottle and fill it full of boiling water and toss it in your sleeping bag... start off the night with a nice hot sleeping bag ;) and it can keep you warm for hours and hours :)

Good call. Also, hand warmers in your socks are quite nice. And it can never hurt to bring two sleeping bags, one inside the other.

Thats what i did last year my -20* bag inside a walmart bag. I stayed warm and plan on double bagging it again this year.

actually sleeping bag ratings are supposed to reflect the temperature you will be comfortable down to.....but...what's comfortable to me may be cold to you plus each manufacturer is 'certifying' these ratings so you have to take it with a grain of salt...
I have always been warm in my Marmot bag too http://marmot.com/products/couloir_reg?p=117 and with an Exped insulated pad http://www.rei.com/product/780365/exped-downmat-9-sleeping-pad-with-pump rarely have slept with the zipper all the way up.....again tho we all have different tolerences to cold....

That's the exact bag I have. I absolutely love it. I tend to sleep a lot colder than most people and I've never been cold in it.

Trying to convince the wife that this would be fun...

Anyway, she works at the Utah Museum of Fine Art and mentioned that they have a Nancy Holt exhibit (the artist that created the Sun Tunnels) through January 20th.

(the museum is a not for profit but they did have to start charging an admission fee a few years ago)

welcome kepkramer. If you get with Frieed, he can recommend the best way to enjoy sleeping in a JKU, he's got it figured out.

If your wife doesn't like camping in warm weather, chances are slim she'll like it in cold weather. :) My wife looks forward to this trip every year, we have a good time.

The wife actually enjoys car camping with the kids, just not in the cold.

We were camping off the Pony Express Trail the last week in October this year, and even with the huge fire, tent heater, warmers in sleeping bags, etc... that's about as cold as she wants to do.

My wife says everything about the trip sounds good, except the temperature, so she is a no go. Oh well, plus we would have to get a babysitter if both of us came

Odly enough, I think the cold weather makes it even more fun.

my wife wears her snow pants to campouts (in the sleeping bag too)and she says it makes a big difference. Just another thought to help the women (and girly men) stay warm.
