Buy the right bike for how your going to ride.

Agreed. However, as for me, I wanted a 2t and its hard to find a 2t in the price range I wanted, this is why I got a yz250. I would have loved a 300 xc as I hear they have really good low end grunt yet offer the blast up top. Going hybrid like steve would have been great to, but I was not willing to do all the work he did.

So far my yz has been great on the trails I had ridden. The fww has really helped, a rekluse would be even better :)

So as usual, my bike had fooled me once again. As mentioned before the bike ran awesome up at The Edge after they tuned the carb and got it running. I unloaded it today and took it around the block. It ran good for a little bit but then it started to bog when I would give it too much gas. I switched the choke on and the problem went away. What is my solution to this? A bigger pilot jet?

Ya I know. If a bigger pilot is the solution it would cost me less to fix it myself than to waste the gas to drive back up there. That's why I wonder.

I would try the larger pilot jet. If that doesn't work, I would take it back to the Edge. Even if it cost more in gas than it's worth, it's the principle of paying someone to fix something and it not being fixed. If they won't fix it I know a guy that will for a fair price. PM me if you want his number. He is in Mapleton so not to far from you.

This! You paid them to fix it, they claimed they did something you had already done several times and it's still not fixed. I'd make them fix it...this time for free. I'd make a stink about it too.

The Edge is good about standing behind their work. A friend of mine bought a used KTM 105 from them and had the crank go out 30 minutes into the first ride. Cranks are not an uncommon problem with these 105's and they stood behind it and fixed it at no charge even though it was used. The bike did not have OEM parts in it prior to the failure and they put OEM back in it which is more expensive.

That's good to know. So many shops are not trustworthy and don't deserve return business. I gladly patronize places that take care of you.

Anyone have advise for mounting a bib inside a trials tire? I've heard mixed ideas about how much lube to use and where to apply it. Ill be doing it tomorrow after work

Yes! I mounted one up a couple weeks ago for my 300.... I spent several years working in tire shops, from high-performance race car tires to heavy equipment & tractor trailer tires. IMO, I'm fairly experienced with tires and usually do my own motorcycle tires... The bib mousse kicked my ass!

My advice? Take it to a shop that knows how to do them and has the tools!! Trust me... it's worth paying someone else to mess with it!

To easily do a tire change with a Bib Moose it takes a special tire changing stand. Here is a video of Josh Knight practicing tire changes prior to last years ISDE.

The secret to any motorcycle tire change is to keep the bead in the deep groove of the rim. I use C clamps to squeeze the beads together so they can get in the groove easier. It takes me as long to change the tire as it does to pull the wheel off of the bike. It's really easy to do if you do it that way

Took my bike for a 11 mile ride today just to figure out what it's really doing for more than 5 minutes. If the bike is cold it has to start with the choke. If the bike is warmed up or hot it will only start with no choke but takes about 5-10 seconds with the button. You have to ride it with the choke on the entire time. If you turn the choke off while riding it bogs bad. If you idle with the choke on it dies. If you try and start from a stop in first with no choke it dies. It idles perfect with no choke.

It also gets bent handle bars from crashing and a helmet saves your nose from being broken when your head slams in the ground.

I called The Edge and they said bring it back so I will hopefully tomorrow. But does anyone have an idea off of those symptoms?

Unfortunately I didn't read this until after I fought the tire in the garage for a bit. I cannot believe how tight if a fit that bib is inside the tire. Needless to say I gave up shortly after getting the bib in the tire. Ill be dropping it off at cycle house to finish the job

What is special about the stand? It sure looks handy. Since I'm running 2 bibs now I should really figure out the install.
