This is somewhat of a related question... Would a 2007 RMZ250 swingarm work on my 2007 KX250F?

I've heard they do, but I'd like a second opinion before I look into it any further.

2004 and 2005 RM/KX were the same bike. The RM actually says Kawasaki or (vise versa) on the steering tube behind the front number plate. I don't know how many years that was the case. 2007 might not be the same.

Well, I was feeling a little optimistic (and the guy from eBay told me it would fit) so I ended up buying it. Everything is a perfect fit...... Except for one fatal flaw.

The caliper mount is flipped upside down on the RMZ swingarm. It's the exact same mount, just welded on upside-down from the KX250F swingarm. Life can't ever be that easy right?

So if anyone needs a swingarm for a RMZ250 I've got one for sale. Haha

Could you cut it off and have it welded on the right way?

Well, that was the great debate. It was either cut that caliper mount off and flip it the other way and weld it back on (with no guarantee the rest of the swingarm would fit, I never did bolt it up or anything) or get that stupid bolt out of my swingarm. I decided it would be a lot of work either way so I just took the "safer" route and dropped my KX swingarm off at Lyndsey Machine and they got it out for me. Excellent service by the way.

First time she's been in one piece for about a month now!

Anyone had any experience with Duro tires? My dad is in desperate need of some new tires and they have those for a good price on RMATV.

Also, how much of a pain would it be to mount the tires myself? Would I be better off taking it somewhere? Any recommendations?

Bring the forks, seals, fork oil, tires and come up to my house we can do all of it for you. Tires take maybe 10 min each, forks can be done in 30-45 min.

Who rides with a roost deflector? Are they comfortable? Do you prefer one with the shoulder protectors or just the vest? Do you ride with a neck brace? They are dang pricey! I only ride trails and don't jump much unless there is a jump on the trail I am riding. I'm never going dangerously fast unless i'm on a straightaway. Just want to be ready for this season.

I have a roost deflector that goes on my Zac Speed pack. Bugged the hell out of me riding with it. I now ride with the full body armor and my pack carrying water and a few supplies. Tools are all in a tool bag on my rear fender.

Rarely have I needed a "roost" deflector. I can only think of one time in the last few years that I have taken any debris (rocks) to the chest. I trail ride, not race, so it's not a big deal to keep a little bit of a distance from the guy in front of me. The Full body armor includes the chest protection, but it also (more importantly) includes the elbow/forearm/arm protection that I've needed way more than the chest protection.

Ditto what Caleb said...

I want a neck brace, just in case. It's one of those things, good ones are expensive, wearing them isn't easy to get used to and more than likely 99.9999% of the time you won't ever need it. But if something happened and you ended up... well, incapacitated.... you'd probably live the rest of your life wishing you had one. I don't think you need to be haulin' ass to 'need' one, but if you're doing things that are putting you where you feel you possibly in danger, it would be wise.

So what is a good full body armor? Does sizing just work like normal? If I wear a large shirt I need a large body armor? Are they hot or they breathe pretty well?

I've been using the same one jeeper just got for many years. It works, and for the price I can't complain...however, I plan to get a nicer one for this coming season. If you want to get a nemeses from RMATV, I historically have been able to save $10-$15 on them making it down right cheap. Sizing, not sure. Mines an XL and it fits, I wear an XL shirt. I'm 6' and 220ish lbs.

I'll echo what Greg and anderson said about the neck protection. It's something that's been on my mind/list every season for the last few, I need to do it, just haven't yet. I'd consider myself to be a very conservative rider. The only time I think I'm on the edge (probably beyond) of my abilities is on long straight desert roads...my bike will do 100mph as it sits incase anyone is wondering  and I still would consider it a must have piece of equipment.

EDIT: When looking at them, I'd get one that has a good kidney belt. The nemeses one has one but it's just a thin elastic one so doesn't do a ton. The kidney belts help a ton and your body will thank you after having rode with one.

As for how they breath, when sitting around they can get hot...especially if you get a black one like the nemeses. While moving though, they breath just fine and you don't really notice, even in the hottest of conditions. I don't wear a jersey over mine, I just wear a short sleeve spandex under shirt.

I use a fox airframe because the build them for fat guys like me. It was weird at first but now riding without it is like riding without boots just feels dangerous.

Yep, I feel the same way about riding with my body armor. I find myself really riding like a ***** (not that I don't already :p) if I don't have it on. With my body armor, I take corners tighter, ride faster and overall feel way more confident.

Thanks Caleb. i may put a list of part numbers together for you to see what prices you can get for me. i sure wish i could still pick up the order in person. i'd like to be able to order some parts and pay with secret cash without the wife knowing what i spent.

I have an EVS and like the fit and quality. I'm pretty sure it saved my life. After a hard impact/crash onto a large sharp pointy rock hitting me right in the heart.. I won't ride without it.

Money well spent.
