I hate Classifieds Lowballers...

UNSTUCK

But stuck more often.
Not a "bad" buyer, but more of a funny story:

I have my surf boat up for sale right now on KSL. This guy calls me on Saturday and starts asking me questions about it. I can hear a bunch of noise in the back ground and figure he must be at the boat show. I ask him and he says yes. He just got done crawling around the current model of my boat. Mine's a 2017 and not many changes from the 2020's. He is really struggling to ask me questions about it. They are all very basic questions. We are talking about a six figure dedicated surf boat and he's asking me if it comes with ballast bags and such. Kind of like asking if a Jeep Rubicon has a transfer case. After every answer he repeats the answer to someone else. He's really struggling to ask me questions then just gives up and and hands off the phone to who I assume is his WIFE. She just goes to town, knowing exactly what she was talking about. Her and I had a great conversation about the boat and boating in general. Not typical for the wife to be in charge of the boating.

I hope I get to see them at the ramp some day. I can just imagine HER yelling and screaming at HIM to back the trailer into the water the right way.

Man card revoked. I'll admit though I have no idea what I need to ask for with anything related to boats haha.

Get a load of this guy

"The price is FIRM and I am NOT parting it out. If either of those are a problem for you, don't bother messaging me about it. "

:fingerz:

Honestly, I wrote those bits to discourage all the dumbasses that ads attracts on Facebook/Craigslist, etc. If I come across as a prick, then the dense folks won't mess with me as it's all spelled out in big letters. Funny thing is, I copied and pasted the same ad on Pirate.

But in theory, you'd do some research to become educated before making a call like that. At least I hope you would.

I agree. I would think any research and doing your homework on anything you'e looking to get into would be common sense, but really common sense seems to be going away nowadays.

I know this is kinda backwards, but I also hate as a buyer, when people don't list a price for something they are selling, and say to make an offer. You throw out a number, and then they either get offended, or just don't respond because they don't like your number.

I was looking at a Cherokee that a guy had swapped a VW TDI into.... had it for sale, no price and no breakdown of costs into vehicle. His ad said message with offer, so I offered what I thought was a fair price. He got all offended, said something about the costs to build it, that he'd never sell it for that low, etc. I just laughed.... it's been over a year now, its still for sale. I can't believe how dumb people can be sometimes.

I've had to sell quite a bit of stuff recently for work. Most of it was office equipment kinds of things. I tried craigslist and got almost no responses. Then I tried my wife's Facebook marketplace account. I had crazy numbers of responses which is tough for a guy who has never been on FB and is using his wife's account off and on. I have a few observations after all of this.

1. Even when I put "serious buyers only" I still get lot's of "is this item still available" and other nonsense. If it wasn't i'd put it sold or pending.

2. 75% of people who say they will come look at something don't show. I started being really specific about them being there and many got offended.

3. The more blunt I was, the better the sales went.

4. When people think it's my wife responding and I am really blunt, they are taken back a little, and she wants to know why I am being so mean to the potential buyers. haha

5. If its not worth at least $40 it's likely not worth the hassle to me.

I'm glad I don't have to be on FB at all for the foreseeable future. A week and a half babysitting that was enough for me.

This to a T. I have finally been putting "If the ad is still up, it is still available" people still ask if the items are available. I finally got really blunt with people that would ask: "Is the ad still up?" and when they say yes, I would say, "well it is still available isn't it?!"

People and common sense or common courtesy is non-existent anymore. Really ridiculous.

Also, this is very accurate as of late:

That number pulls up plenty of info off Google. But the name associated with it isnt Chris. They bouncing it off legit numbers somehow?

I get robo calls all the time. Sometimes I miss them and call the number back stating someone just called me from this number and they say they never called me. 90% of the time it has the same Prefix as my number.
