I mean I’d trust 6k cash before I’d trust a 6k personal check. Especially where one walks away with goods and the other walks away with a piece of paper that may get denied.
For sure but I mean I haven’t had a personal checkbook in probably a decade. But that’s not really a modern form of payment anymore. Venmo, cashiers check, wire transfer I almost prefer any of these methods to cash with large sums of money. I sold a car once and got like $18,000 in $20’s. It took the bank a ridiculous amount of time to have everything counted twice and deposited.

I guess there was a time that cash maybe carried more value, but for me personally it does not anymore.

Whenever people text me with offers and specify cash I asked them what the exchange rate is to USD once I deposit it in my bank? Do I get more money after I put it in the bank then if you just wire transfer it or give me a cashiers check?

I sold my cruiser for 11k and the guy brought a stack of 100's. I was counting them out on the tailgate and was like I hope we don't get a gust of wind right now. It was kind of fun. So maybe CASH is worth a little more? You know, for the baller experience.

I sold my El Camino for $18k and the guy bought cash, 100's, 50's and 20's because that's all his bank had. We had piles of cash laid out all over the floor in my shop... looked like a drug deal was going down. 🤣

I listed a car hauler trailer years ago, the guy was driving thru from Denver headed to Vegas... wanted to pick up a trailer on the way. He looked a bit sketchy, had a few sketchy friends with him too.

He checks it out, says he wants it, says he'll pay asking price ($2000 iirc) and I go grab the title.

He whips out his check book... 😲🙄

I told him there's no way I'm letting him take the trailer with a check. He whines about time, trying to find a bank, etc. I tell him it's not my problem, explain that I'd be out $2k if his check bounced (nothing personal) and if he wants the trailer, go get cash.

He reluctantly found a bank, got cash, left with the trailer.

Personally, if you're coming to buy something of mine that's at all valuable, you'd better have cash or a cashiers check.

Cash is a hard one for me in large amounts as well. Had a buddy in college from the Coalville area rebuild a diesel Cherokee as part of his engines class. When he sold it at the end of the semester just before Christmas a guy paid him in 100s, he went to the bank after the guy drove off and and none of the bills would pass the pen test. All of them had the little strip inside and looked and felt real.

I hate Ksl’s new message system. I don’t think people realize it is there, and now you have to opt in for personal contact information to be shown. I have money ready to spend on a couple of items, I can’t personally contact the seller… And they have not responded to any messages.

Yeah that messaging system has saved me like $1k on stuff I totally would’ve bought. But still, I hate it.

Same. We just bought an XJ instead of some other things that would have been betterer due to lack of ability to contact folks

Did you all see your ksl app update today? More notifications about how the messaging system works, and a specific ‘opt in’ requirement for either messaging or calls.

You can thank me for that. I reached out to the developers and discussed what I thought was best.
