Either way, I am getting you a price on a good core that you can use to make the decision on what you are going to do. One of my clients deals a lot in engine and transmission cores out of Dallas.

Have any of you dealt with an EGR plug? this allows all the EGR stuff to remain in place for visual inspections, but blocks the flow. They basically stick a freeze plug inside the EGR and cooler.

I have also heard of a programmer that simply tells the computer not to open the EGR.. you don't actually mod anything. Then you can change it back at anytime.

Totally Awesome
I have mine unhooked on my 2006. I have a check engine light that won't go away. I've heard you can get it programmed so it won't throw a check engine light. But I haven't really looked into it. I've deleted the EGR cooler and the Cat was deleted before I bought the truck.

Since the EGR was deleted, it runs great. I don't have anymore weird issues with it running. I haven't had to do anything to mine since I last replaced the oil cooler and deleted the EGR crap. I'm loving it. It's becoming a great truck! I'm approaching 200K fast, I need some new shocks all around and a leveling kit for the front.

^^ I've put serious thought into removing the lift on mine..

...especially because it needs tires.. and I nearly pass out when pricing them..

I garuntee you would regret it. That big truck will be scraping belly as it is, don't neuter it.

Kind of depends on the intended use? For a slide-in camper, I'd want the truck at stock height or below. There may be other reasons to lower it? Tired of pricey tires with inappropriate gearing?

(I personally HATE 18" and 20" tires/wheels--17" stuff is expensive enough)

My '07 had OEM 20s. They were baller...and I sold it before the tires wore out. It hurt just looking at the price of one tire.

I was with you, until I towed on 20's. Day and night difference compared to the 17's and 18's I've towed with in the past. For the extra couple hundred bucks a set every 50K miles, I'll stick with the 20's (I still hate the looks of them though).

I have a pretty descent tire connection. I have helped some on RME save a little money. PM me your number next week and tell me what you are looking for

Decision time! need advice..

EGR?

I want to remove it all, just to know I am safe.

However, I've been told that buying the upgraded cooler gets rid of the issues. I am concerned about the ability to register it, and potential resale if ever needed. Also worried about being caught without an EGR..

However, the LAST thing I want to do is deal with a bad EGR in the future.

Is the cooler upgrade sufficient?
Is the risk still too great to keep it?
