Meat is a great co pilot made the wheeling a lot of fun. He also kept me awake driving to Moab after 2 hours of sleep. Again, sorry to bail early but glad you found another seat.

Sorry I tend to babble when I'm sleep deprived (or drunk), with that group it wasn't hard to find a seat

...just gritted teeth and nodded his head, like he was trying to turn right, but couldn't quite do it.. You had to be there, it was priceless. He made it easily on the next try.

Even though I couldn't see it from where I was, I have wheeled with him enough that I know exactly what he looked like

I'll be replacing the front 44 shafts with alloys and CTMs. If they break in Montrose (I think October is a must do) I'll have all winter to get a 60 in there.

If you get them fixed in the next week or two we can hit that other trail

Yep, it's law. You need to be licensed for transportation and to drive on any kind of public road / trail. It only costs about ~$30 /yr to license an off-road vehicle. You may be able to get registered and have the ticket dropped.

There was talk about doing away with the hauling part of that law.....

Also, this is a bit off the subject, but I have heard and read a number of posts about registering trucks, buggys, etc. as OHV, and that once a vehicle has been registered OHV it can never be changed back to street legal. But just in case anyone is interested, I just changed my Toyota back from OHV to street legal last week before heading down to Moab for Labor Day weekend. So it can be done, and it was really pretty painless. If anyone is trying to re-register your rig from OHV to street, I can give you details and names of who I talked to to get it done...

Like others said, glad your ok Goat! I think after the first time of getting sidewise, I would have taken a strap and cleaned my shorts!

And Bart, if you aren't going to install the new alloys, you got to at least bring them on the trail with you. Sometimes just having that 'threat' will keep 'em in place!

I've never seen rocker knocker done so well before. Great spotter on that one!!!!

Stupid me, I had the shafts with me, just didn't bring the CTM and I didn't want to throw a Spicer in only to come home and change it back out. I know, I'm lazy. Just comes from too many times having to fix stuff quick, only to do it again a day or two later.

Sounds strange but I was never worried. Just held on to the wheel tight as it went over. Funny part was when I hit the release on the harness and fell out like a bag of rocks

That is a tricky obstacle. Too far to the left and you get a big bounce and the right side is steeper.

Figured I had a 50/50 chance of rolling it going in. I installed the 5 way harness and cage additions because of it. Meat and Chad were looking at me like I was crazy when i started pulling everything out of my rig before giving it a go. The only thing that fell out were the floormats:greg:

We decided to turn around and head out of Pritchett because of a very large group ahead of us only had only made it about 1/5 of the way in over 2 hours time. So we headed up the Rim to have lunch.

We ended up starting Green Day while the bigger guys ran Coyote. We ran into this same group and ended up about 3 rigs back from this little buggy. There was a girl (sister?) who started complaining that she wasn't getting any time in the driver's seat, so her dad let her hop in. She immediately missed getting it into gear and rolled backward down the hill almost hitting the vehicle behind her. After a quick lesson from her dad about which pedal was the brake, she was off and heading up the trail with him walking beside spotting.

The convoy just started moving again and the little buggy had just crested the hill and gone out of our sight. Suddenly, everybody started leaping from their rigs and looking awfully panicked. I figured something bad must have happened so I hopped out and took a look. Turns out the kids had gotten spooked over a ledge and the girl hit the gas rather than the brake. The buggy had shot off the trail and tumbled about 300' down the hillside, coming to rest about 30 feet shy of a large dropoff. The dad had tried to grab the buggy to stop it and it tossed him about 25 feet through the air and beat him up pretty bad.

Those 5 point harnesses, window nets, helmets, and DOM cage were worth their weight in gold that day as the kids walked away with hardly a scratch. They were a bit shaken up, but I think it was mostly the sobbing mom, aunts and uncles that came to the rescue that got them crying.

We righted the buggy, pulled the plugs and pumped the motor oil out of the cylinders and drove/dragged the buggy back onto the trail. It was a little beat and had probably a broken front locker but was no worse for the wear otherwise. I'll bet you could have bought that buggy very very cheap that afternoon. We figured we'd had enough drama for the morning so we went back and took a nap with the kids at the hotel before hitting Behind the Rocks alone.

Overall- great trip and it was nice to meet a few friendly faces! Shane and Tanner, I'd love to meet up with you guys again sometime. Thanks for hanging out with the little guy for a while.
