McCain: What happened?

I thought it was interesting that the small articles stating that Palin was cleared by the counsel doing the investigation came out YESTERDAY. Not much was said. Compare that to how much was made of there even being an investigation.

Compare the fawning over the no-experience Obama running for president, and how much was made of Palin. Compare Charlie Gibson's interviews. Compare Rolling Stone (sure, not a reputable "news" source, but a huge shaper of opinion for millions 18-24)

ETC

Consider Katie Couric's interview of Biden, all giggles and chummy. But when she GRILLED Palin, looking down her nose and asking questions with no real answers...

The media is no longer the champion of the people. The media wishes to shape the outcome. And in this case they sure played a role. And yet, they are a dying breed and pretend otherwise. Viewership is dropping, readership of the papers are dwindling. Hardly a day goes by that there isn't a story of some news outlet having to close doors or layoff people.

2010, we need another Newt...

Mc Cain lost this election when he voted for the bail out, just before that he was saying he would veto any bill with ear marks and blah blah blah. Next thing you know he voted for a bail out with tons of ear marks. It was his to lose and he did a good job of it for sure. But in reality the dem. are shooting them selves in the face on this one because they now control pretty much the whole government and it id going to get worse before it gets better and they can only blame Bush for so long before they have to step up.

Bottom line is this......

Obama won hands down.

McCain lost hands down.

People who complain that McCain lost are sore losers.

People who rub it in that Obama won are sore winners.

Lets just hope that Obama can put this country back on track.

And that's all I have to say, about that!!!

I do have to say, there's some serious paranoia here.

Not even.

In the four years Obama is pres. he will single handedly shut down all coal mines making energy very expensive, close every acre of wilderness land in America, make everyone lose their jobs and increase taxes 200%, he will also manage to make all guns (rifles, handguns, etc) illegal and take away any guns that people already own legally.

Yes my friends, barack hussein obama will ruin the country with his big to do list of the above items. He will not do anything good, only the things i've listed above.

If only McCain would have gotten elected. None of this would happen and we'd all be rich, debt free, and on top of the world.

Smarm is overrated.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you...

Here's what I'm thinking, Obama needs to focus on the economy, he also ran on getting out of Iraq, healthcare, helping the middle class, etc. If he goes off and decides aborting babies, taking away your guns, taking away your bible, closing public lands, etc is more important then he'll be out in 4 years. He's got 6 years of stuff piled up (maybe more) and if he ignores it all and does all the crap that wasn't on his agenda that the radical right is freaking out about then he deserves to be out in 4 and will be. I think he's smart enough to focus on what he ran on for at least the first couple years and once he has some cleared he can worry about the rest.

Bingo......the other things that you mentioned are issues that have FAR less importance compared to the one's that I bolded. Like you said, he's an intelligent guy, I personally think that he'll handle the big problems first.

If only it really worked that way. Things like wilderness, and guns etc may not be as important to the general public, but declaring a new national monument is a huge publicity booster, and guaranteed to boost his ever so important approval rating. Once his approval rating drops (which could be sooner or later) expect things like wilderness designation and gun control to suddenly become much more important.

They are good for distraction. Your plans to fix the economy backfire? Put in a new gun ban! You get caught with a dead hooker? New National park! I don't think they actually care if it gets passed or not but you get the public looking at something else and your problem goes to the background and is forgotten. The national news stations are worse than a kid with ADD.

1 - First and foremost - his campaign manager f'ed things up in a VERY bad way. McCain is not this guy that just ran for office. McCain has always gotten along and even worked with extreme liberals. McCain is level headed - look at his successsion speech. McCain is not the type of guy to go on attacks and not talk about 'change'.

2 - Palin. Not that Palin was really a bad choice, I liked her, but I think a better fit would have been McCain's best bud Leiberman.

So take those two above... Better manager to allow McCain to be himself and choose his buddy Leiberman. I believe he would have been more comfortable and would have ran a stronger campaign. Definately would not have been on the attack at the end and looked desperate.

3 - Bush. 70% of American's wanted someone different/hated Bush. Obama is far from the same. McCain isn't the same either, but he didn't spend enough time to be convincing. So because of this, I think any republican was doomed from teh start. Not impossible, just didn't campaign well enough to prove to the people he was the right man for the job - even if they thought Bush wasn't.

To summarize.. I think if McCain woudl have campaigned like Reagan did - talk of America(n)'s strong points and how he would like to make them stronger. Obama never focused on America(n)'s strengths - only their weaknesses. Such as someone would that hates America as he and Michelle do.

I agree. He was right to veto the first one and shoudl have the second. He did well by leaving the campaign to 'fix' this, but did bad by returning just a few days later when it wasn't fixed - and he knew it! I even said it back when, that I fealt the only reason he voted for the second one was political.

I think even if Obama is in office for 8 years  he'll still leave the office blaming Bush and so will the dem's... 'look how bad Bush screwed up the economy - even our best couldn't fix it after 8 years'. Some BS along those lines...
