Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you...

Here's what I'm thinking, Obama needs to focus on the economy, he also ran on getting out of Iraq, healthcare, helping the middle class, etc. If he goes off and decides aborting babies, taking away your guns, taking away your bible, closing public lands, etc is more important then he'll be out in 4 years. He's got 6 years of stuff piled up (maybe more) and if he ignores it all and does all the crap that wasn't on his agenda that the radical right is freaking out about then he deserves to be out in 4 and will be. I think he's smart enough to focus on what he ran on for at least the first couple years and once he has some cleared he can worry about the rest.

I disagree.. I see a hit on him within 6 months and will be VERY surprised if he lives 2 years. Secret service is already expecting one and he hasn't even taken office yet. But he has already came out and said that his promisses may take 'time' and some won't even work out.

Keep in mind, the country was in a bad mess when Reagan took office as well. It took him less than 2 years to lower the unemployment rate/create millions of jobs, lower taxes and lower inflation. You can't tell me we are in worse shape now after Bush than we were after Carter...

You're probably right on the assassination attempt, unfortunately. (I'm sure RME just made the Secret Service list now, but I'd bet they are UBER busy) I'm willing to give the guy a shot. If he makes things better, so be it. Good for him.

I do HATE that there are a LOT of racist comments that I've read around the web. I'd hoped we as a country were beyond that, but it appears we aren't? News flash to those: You CAN'T CONTROL what color you are when you are born. You can only control what you do/say.

I'm not either, but now that one is in the white house, I think affirmative action should be obsolete. After all they are the ones that are keeping themselves down and reminding others that it matters by continuing to bring it up. I don't think this country has had anything about any color in at least 20 years, or even more.

And exactly... ANY color can be a 'nigger'. To me 'nigger' is just another term for 'asshole'. I know white people that are 'assholes' and I know a lot of really cool black people that aren't. To me Obama isn't either, he's a Kenyan born?/raised Islamic terrorist that hates everything that this country and the people of it stand for - both he and his wife. And the only reason he's in office is to better his financial portfolio and God help me I'm wrong, but destroy the American way.

Umm, Obama isn't Muslim.........

He is and he admited it on national TV! See, this is what my wife and I just can't figure out. The guy admitted be Muslim. The guy admits to flag burning with his wife. The guy admits how he was raised and befreinded terrorists and even looks up to them. Then he admits that he's a Marxist and will create a socialist economy - and he still received all of the votes. My wife asked her mother why she voted for him when he said all of this, and she only said he never did. Even though she does watch TV and she's seen it all. But yet it didn't happen, because most of those that voted for him were in a daze of 'change'. Rockstarish if you will.

In Muslim culture it is normal to change your name to whatever you choose as a right of passage. Barry chose to take on his fathers' name and become Obama II.

How about the dems getting ready to CONFISCATE our 401ks? To protect us from market volatility. To be managed by the Social Security people?

Sure it sounds unconstitutional. But that won't stop them. The courts aren't suppose to legislate from the bench either... Yet...

Bottom line is this......

Obama won hands down.

McCain lost hands down.

People who complain that McCain lost are sore losers.

People who rub it in that Obama won are sore winners.

Lets just hope that Obama can put this country back on track.

And that's all I have to say, about that!!!

......and the sore losers raise their ugly heads!!!!!

i thought you had said all you had to say about that.

Right, wrong or indifferent, I feel the American public rejected McCain for these reasons:

1.He was a republican and republican=bush
2.Stating that he would stay the course in Iraq
3.He was old, by comparison (Nixon VS Kennedy)
4.Palin and wasn't ready to be a VP. (see #3)
5.Not having any clear plan to turn the economy
6.campaigning on fear and negativity during the last 120 days

He also lost quite a bit of moderate voters when he started making quote marks with his fingers during the debate, when referring to "the health of the mother" concerning abortion. No matter how you feel about abortion, that wasn't all that smart, and most women I spoke to confirmed that.

There was a pretty good interview with a former McCain campaign adviser on NPR last night. He pretty much echoed the same sentiment that Wayne did. He commented that the persona McCain attempted to portray in the campaign wasn't his. Had he run as himself, the outcome may have been closer of different.

Agreed there! If he had run as he had against Bush, that would have won people over, unlike this time.

Obama is NOT a Muslim, he is a Christian.

But for the sake of discussion let us say that he is. So what. Are you intolerant of anothers religion? Or is it because we are having issues with EXTREMIST Muslims with a warped view, commiting atrocities in the name of Allah.

Do not forget what EXTREMIST CHRISTIANS have done in the name of God throughout history and even today. Should I then think that ALL Christians are extremists with a warped view and be intolerant of them?

You really do not want me to start a list of atrocities performed by EXTREMIST CHRISTIANS in the name of God throughout history....

In regards to flag burning, I personally find this myself offensive, especially being a veteran.

BUT:

The first federal Flag Protection Act was passed by Congress in 1968 in response to protest burnings of the flag at demonstrations against the Vietnam War.[10] Over time, 48 of the 50 U.S. states also enacted similar flag protection laws. All of these statutes were overturned by the Supreme Court of the United States by a 5-4 vote in the case Texas v. Johnson, 491 U.S. 397 (1989) as unconstitutional restrictions of public expression.
After the Johnson decision, Congress quickly passed a new Flag Protection Act, which was also struck down by the Supreme Court the following year by the same 5-4 majority in the case United States v. Eichman, 496 U.S. 310 (1990). The Court decided that expression through flag burning was constitutionally protected.

On a side note, I personally find Tacoma's avatar offensive (an upside down flag), though I think I know WHY he is doing it. To possibly "protest" Obama winning the election and showing that our country is in distress. Which is what an upside down flag means.
He is practicing his free speech and using the flag as a symbol in his speech, which is protected under the above cited ruling.

Its no secret I voted for Obama... But I wanted to be clear I voted for a bunch of Republicans this time around and usually do including Huntsman.. The #1 reason, not particularly for him but against what Republicans largely came to become particularly in the last couple years and in this election again. Not sure if you have seen the news lately but it is all over the place with senior Republican advisors saying "it is a time for deep introspection." Not sure if you caught what Obama said but it was "I will be your President too." "I need your opinion" which is basically the opposite of what we had seen the last 8 years.

Again considering the odds McCain actually had against him, he could have done so much worse it's not even funny. I think he did a hell of a job considering as mentioned three factors: old guy against a him young new guy on the cover of Rolling Stone, the Bush legacy of complete and utter failure (literally every single major initiative, even No Child Left Behind), and how right Bush has made the party and that McCain is far more central than that (he words in the election were not him, it was all political sham), and then finally his history, cheating on his wife, etc etc.

I'm not sure if you guy know the history of McCain... In 2000 after getting swiftboated by Bush McCain almost switched sides to Democrats. He has a black adopted child and Bush accused him of fathering his adopted child. That and the confederate issue. He has a real history of bipartisanship and that was the real way he earned his reputation as a "maverick."

And then finally Sarah Palin. If you have a chance (and before blackballing it as "geez the NY Times" because it turns out this reporting is actually accurate:) http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/06/us/politics/06mccain.html

Says that McCain and Palin hardly even talked before the close of the election. From the times:

As late as Tuesday night, a McCain adviser said, Ms. Palin was pushing to deliver her own speech just before Mr. McCain’s concession speech, even though vice-presidential nominees do not traditionally speak on election night. But Ms. Palin met up with Mr. McCain with text in hand. She was told no by Mark Salter, one of Mr. McCain’s closest advisers, and Steve Schmidt, Mr. McCain’s top strategist.
For her part, Ms. Palin told reporters in Arizona on Wednesday morning that “there is absolutely no diva in me.”

I'm not sure if anyone say Palin and McCain "embrace" (or lack there of) after the election and them exiting the stage during the concession speech. You could see real, genuine awkwardness in their interactions.

Just my $.02

I believe strongly in Republican values. Low taxes, smaller government as needed, the American dream. The problem is all that seems to be forgotten, and I do agree the Republican party needs real

waynehartwig I edited this a little to tone it down and I'm sorry I'm sure you're a nice guy. But I'll talk a little about the big white elephant in the room... Really your statements only make you look worse because they are just so wrong... Black and born in Hawaii and Christians does not equal born in Kenya and Muslim and a terrorist, no matter how many times you might have heard it..

On national TV in an interview with who doesn't matter (besides I don't remember :p). Obama mentioned his Muslim faith. The interviewer caught it and said you mean christian faith and Obama was dumb founded and said yes.

No, I'm not saying all Muslim's are terrorists. But I *AM* saying Obama is a liar. I don't care if he's black, white, orange or purple. A man only has his integrity. With no integrity he's a farse and less of a man and in no position to lead our country. AND coupled with the fact he is obviously an extremist, hates America and gew up worshiping known terrorists...You do the math.

I wish I would have saw that interview... I bet over the last month, even with the elections and etc, I've only watched MAYBE 4 hours of TV.

I couldn't care less even if Obama WAS a Muslim.

His socialist ideology is the issue.
