Muddy Snakes

Constrictor is ultimately a large drainage ditch. I was ther last summer when the snow was so deep, you could not get to the first obstacle (with 38's and copious amounts of throttle). Two weeks later, the traill was completely void of any snow, and dry to the touch. Planting trees is not really an option. this is the desert. Trees don't grow too fast here. I am somewhat familiar with Alaska, trying to compare it's environment to Utah's is folly.

we really need more rocks, but not little ones

alaska does not equal utah

rs is a easy trail isn't it? i think i could make it in the tow rig, but it is too expensive to find out :ugh:

I understand this. This is somewhat what I was getting at by trying to note the toughness of the land, comparably.

Alaskan trails are mostly muddy forest trails and muskeg (floating soil and plants). It is very easy to damage these types of terrain. The only reason the trails exist was for access to mines or waterfalls in centuries past. They have been expanded by an increased size of the vehicles that travel them, from horse or mule to motorcyle and eventually to truck. Many if not all of the trees in these areas were killed by beetles in prior decades, so the only stabilization of the ground is by rock and/or tree root. In some places trails have been dug out by intense rain or a heavy throttle, and other areas have just washed away into rivers.

Preserving the trail is often a challenge. Luckily, Utah trails seem to be stable soil-wise, so they should be easier to protect. The biggest issue is rookie wheelers doing stupid stuff (like myself) and irresponsible trail users polluting the land.

I am committed to keeping the access open to everyone. I don't want to be the guy that got a trail closed. My reckless actions will not be a reoccurrance.

Rattlesnake would pretty easy without the mud. With the mud, it's still not hard, just the lack of traction makes forward progress tougher.

we had a full size hummer without lockers about 1/2 way up the trail, probably could have made it the hole way with a little more lift and some lockers

 Holy crap are you going to cry about the tree that got ripped out of the ground, the oil the rodeo left, BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH.
No, I am not. You're a little late on this discussion, but the fact remains, Klif NEW better. He used poor judgement. He led others onto a bogus bypass, making them think it was okay to use it.

Would you rather just have us overlook his boo-boo?

He said he was sorry and did not know!!!!!

If you are that worried do something about it. But remeber the law states not to do ANY enviromental damages! so rocks being moved is damage even in a open OHV area.

you're coming on a little strong for being this late in the game. besides, there is humor behind a lot of what was said here.
and yes a lot of people are angry about the tree being ripped out, what was the point of ripping it out? do you think it is okay that it was ripped out?
my whole problem is the rocks being moved to make the trail easier. lets not make the trail cater to the "little girls" of rockcrawling.

edit: i totally echo what hickey said above. klif is a respectable member of this board that knew better, the guy made a mistake and it is fun to exploit it. :D i don't think anyone genuinely hates eachother about this.
he is a nice guy and he won't make the mistake again, just go look at the poll in chit-chat

I still don't understand how you guys start saying I knew better than to be on that "bypass"

I honestly didn't know it was ****ing closed.....I made a mistake that won't happen again, and I will urge others not to do the same!

Shrug...this is getting anoying.

I do agree with popo, on how many other more damaging things go on that are unchalenged.

I had seen other respectable members of the 4x4 community on the little area of ground that I was driving on, so I assumed it would be ok to go on.

But again, I don't see people complaining about the numerous trees, rocks moved, tires spun, vehicles damaged therefore leaking on the ground etc etc etc.....I know not one of you can admit to no doing somthing harmful to the environment on your 4x4 adventures....or maybe you can cause the whole day is spent here on the internet complaining about my 4x4 adventures......

I'm thinkin it's Demon Jeep. Your cover is blown, biatch.

Like it wasn't obvious weeks ago.....

Did Demon get banned or did he self ban like Pokey?

and don't say we don't complain about it. I consider myself pretty vocal and usually speak up when I see something going down that shouldn't. Some people may remember when Suka, Herzog, and I had the RME vs. CO4x4 war after seeing those d-bags on pritchett using that illegal bypass. I guess it's more of the same--people just being ignorant of the trail and not knowing any better. I guess what i'm saying is I may be an asshole, but I'm consitantly an asshole.

Seriously, say something about an x-box.....
