Ok, I haven't seen any bills for this. What are the areas that are having to pay? Is it all of SL County, only unicorporated areas? Links to more info?

I'm sure you guys will see lots of new BMW cop bikes, and blingin new hot rod cop cars. Shiny new swat team vehicles and freshly pressed new uniforms. I am sure it will all go to good use like actually fighting crime and not fresh new unnecessary equipment.

I was so pissed when I saw the highway patrol wasting tax payer dollars on ridiculously expensive new BMWs when their current bikes were more than adequate. Why could they not trim the fat in the system instead of bilking taxpayers in order to install job security through future funding?

As I understand it, in addition to the $174 per year, you get assessed $15 each time you call them.

The "fee" (not a tax, we'd have to vote on that) is due to there not being nearly as much revenue from sales taxes, since everyone's cut back on buying crap lately.

I think that we should have the option to be exempt.

Can I just drag the body of the home invader out into the middle of the street? Or sidewalk even... That's city property.. Someone who is paying the mafia can then inform them that there is a body on city property that needs to be taken care of.

What a joke. You should get cash back then if you don't call them for the year. Like that insurance company does, no claims = cheaper police fee.

Secondly: I wouldn't vote for "those people", I live in Tooele. :D Thirdly, regardless of that, gaining income in that fashion for a public service is de facto taxation. Was it voted on? Were people allowed to influence that decision? Or was it just a "fee" tacked on without recourse? :D

its just like car insurance... if your a good driver you never use it either... but you still have to pay it... and if you don't they take your right to drive away from you... yet everyone of us don't even think twice about paying that bill... and hell I have 4 cars insured and I pay close to 200 a month for that privilege to drive...

A: They are already collecting your "car insurance" It called taxes.

B: Your car insurance doesn't make you pay for accidents that didn't happen, or for your neighbors insurance.

C: there are many "insurance" companies to choose from. Not so with police. Imagine if you were forced to go with the crappiest insurance or they would take your car.

I agree that it is way way different but you do pay for accidents that didn't happen and for your neighbors losses. In fact it's similar in one way, when you have an accident you do pay a usage fee or deductible. Btw you cage is looking great.
