Hey Kurt, did jinxspot get ahold of you? He said he rolled his truck last time out, and he still hasn't fixed it. if you were interested, he'd be willing to gently flop his rig so we could practice righting it, liquid/oil/fuel spill cleanup and all that. I just wanted to make sure he touched bases with you.

Kurt, do the conference rooms have projectors in them, or do we need to provide our own?

We need to arrange that, particularly if our group gets too big to fit in the classrooms:
"The classrooms can hold 20-25 people so it might get cozy depending on the turnout. There are bathrooms right next to the classrooms but not much in the way of places for kids to play, or disinterested spouses to escape the cold se we need to plan accordingly. The classrooms don't have projectors so we still need to arrange that."

At this point given the number of registrants we have, I don't think a classroom is going to work. Again 20-25 people is going to be cozy, 25+ is going to be impossible. I'm counting 23 participants now and that doesn't include instructors, friends, wives, kids, etc. I'm going to check with John today to see if we can get access to one of the day garages and build it into a make shift classroom. Either way we need to arrange projector and screen.

He did. I'm waiting for the OK from the park before we proceed, there are some liability concerns but if possible I'm all for it.

This is a response from David Jeppeson to John Tanner out of Hatch's office in response to a email I sent to Tanner. Just to let you know.

Subject: RE: Request from Utah Four Wheel Drive Association

Mr. Tanner,

Thank you for contacting me concerning Jack Johnston and the Utah Four Wheel Drive Association (U4WDA). Although the BLM does not have a response letter to send you at his point, I can report that since the time that Jack Johnston contacted you, we were able to make contact with the U4WDA and hold a meeting on October 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] between Jack Johnston and Ron Tolman representing the U4WDA; and myself and Shelley Smith who was the acting Utah State Director at the time.

A couple of things to note from the meeting include:
1. There was mutual interest to develop a Memorandum of Understanding to improve opportunities for the BLM and the U4WDA to work together. Soon after the meeting, the BLM provided Jack Johnston and Ron Tolman from the U4WDA an example Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) to use as a reference to begin drafting an MOU between the U4WDA and the BLM.
2. There was a discussion regarding the “Utah Trail Patrol” program which is overseen by Utah State Parks and Recreation. It was discussed that this program may be a tool to use to improve the manner and consistency with which the BLM and the U4WDA work together to better manage roads and trails in Utah.

In addition, on the 20-21[SUP]st[/SUP] of January, as part of a weekend 4x4 training event, myself representing the BLM will be working with the Rocky Mountain extreme 4x4 group and the U4WDA to hold a TREAD Lightly training, offering tips and techniques for 4x4 users to enjoy the outdoors in a responsible manner. It is the intent of the BLM, the U4WDA and Utah State Parks to further work together to offer additional trainings together.

The Utah BLM looks forward to working more with the U4WDA to improve the management of roads and trails on BLM managed lands in Utah.

Thank you for your interest and Feel free to contact myself or Juan Palma for updates as we progress towards formalizing an MOU with the U4WDA.

Bravo, good work everyone. I have a friend who is one of the BLM Lawyers for the department of the interior. I almost got him to come to this event. He's got an FJ40 and he's just about ready to start building it up and getting out on the trails. Hopefully I can get him out to the next one.

We're still looking for someone with a projector and screen. Any luck getting into a garage spot?

John said he will make it happen to accommodate our group size. Given we won't be in a classroom with tables and chairs we ought tell everyone to bring their camp chair down with them from the off-road park to the day garages. Wanna update that in the thread?

How many are we feeding? That doesn't sound like a lot?

Each package of pancake mix should make 14 pancakes, so there are 42 pancakes. Two per person... sorry, I thought the limit for registration was 20, so we'll up it to five packages, that gives us 70 pancakes. That should be enough for the 30 registrants. For the eggs, 36 eggs with the milk to add volume will make a ton of scrambled eggs, I'm not to worried about that. And four packages of bacon should be plenty, unless everyone else disagrees? Are we providing drinks, too? If thats the case we should throw in some gallons of OJ.

I'd plan for 50 Stephen, it creeping up there. Which means more like 10 packs of bacon, 150 pancakes, etc... Gonna be cozy under the tent for the brekkie.
