Toyota Project runner up

It's probably your birfields being not-yet-broken. There is a lot of binding on the drivetrain in 4WD, so a lot more load on the birfs.

Ah, I've only gotten as far as Rattlesnake, I havent been past that point. But looks like a fun spot to mess around

Okay, who was it?!? I remember Simone posting up saying to hurry and ditch the stock push pull steering.....well guess what..……

Yeah ih8mud.com is a toyota/landcrusier only site but its a nationally based one and the classifieds are pretty good, i got mine from a guy in colorado for 50 and they were in great shape

In addition to ih8mud, yotatech, pirate, and ttora are a few other big sites that often have great deals on toyota stuff for sale in the classifieds.

I will have to go check those out.
What's a good source for some nickel rod so I can fix this steering arm and have it has a spare? It's cast iron and mig welding it's not an option. So arc plus nickel rod should do the trick as far as fixing it goes.

If you heat up the cast, you can MIG it just fine.

In my experience as a welder every time i have ever welded cast it eventually just breaks again right next to where you welded. Even with nickel rod etc ... Once cast breaks its not really worth doing unless your Stuck somewhere and need to do it to limp it home. :-\

this is so true plus krany like i said once you go high steer you can use a "J" arm because you will have to use a IFS box

yea, this arm would be a just in case arm to throw in the back of the truck when i go wheeling.

The Toyota steering arms are different from normal cast iron. I've made several crossover steering arms, and they actually weld quite well.

That said, I wouldn't bother fixing that. Just go with either a crossover steering setup, or hi-steer.

so what your saying is that they are broke just not all the way?
