Awesome! What's the message we are rallying behind? What are we there to say?

I was just talking to a friend of mine and he said there is a rumor that someone is trying to push off route to to be a Class A misdemeanor offense. That is the same as negligent homicide, attempted agg assault or assault with bodily injury. The concern is that not every trail that is open is marked and not every trail that is closed is marked. Maps are not always readily available and if a mistake is made, we all know those off road cops that will nail you to the ground.

Also it is important to show a unified front to the Guv with his views towards off-road recreation.

CLASS A!?!?! thats truely the pits. as you mentioned its sometimes hard to negotiate where to go. I got lost on hells revenge for like an hour once after the lookout because the trail markers had disappeared.

I'd say that's just a rumor and we shouldn't be spreading misinformation.

There is a bill in the works to increase the penalties for driving off designated routes where such restrictions are required. Some are already gearing up to fight this increase. This is one of the things I'd like to know about before committing support for this rally. I support increased fines. I have yet to see a travel map that wasn't clear about which routes were open. It's the responsibility of the user to know what's open and what's closed.

Did we ever come up with legislation or bills we are rallying behind? Just several weeks out and I can't find anything we are rallying for except just to be rallying??

IMO the rally is more about showing our elected officials that there is a large group of us out there who has elected them. We care about the land issues and they need to listen to us.

Hmmm, sounds somewhat vague, there are a several OHV/4x4 related bills getting worked over right now. Some I'd like to know more about before I support.

Such as, I actually support stiffer fines for rogue users, those monies should be directly funneled into increased enforcement.

Also, the new street legal OHV laws that Usa-All asked 4x4 guys to support, is now being re-worked to exclude buggy's and even larger side by sides, are we there to support this one way or the other?

So what laws are the OHV rep groups working on this year that we need to know about?

Hey we will send an email out on Monday with more details. The long and short of it is we are not even going to discuss the current bills going through the legislature. We will not be promoting or urging the defeat of any bills. If concerned or interested parties want to discuss it with me before or after the speakers talk to us I will be happy to do so. But we are not using this rally to affect current bills, speaking mainly of HB 283. If you want to bring a sign saying, "HANG RENEGADE OHV RIDERS" then do it. This is a chance and place for you to exercise free speech in a public setting. This is a uniting rally not one of divisiveness. We know of the differing opinion on certain bills and issues. But we believe that while we have a few differences in HOW to get the job done, I believe we all want the same thing. We all want improved and protected access to Utah’s stunning backcountry.

Per my discussion with U4WDA Pres. Steve Edmunds, We WILL discuss the importance of R.S. 2477 and a bill in Washington that we strongly believe would resolve such right of way claims. We will question why NONE of Utah's congressional delegation has supported the bill, we will ask Washington County Commissioners to make good on their promise to go after the Sawmill road, Dan Jessop will speak to us, Mike Noel, and one or two others.

Bottom line we are rallying to unite our voices in a message that land use and access matters deeply to us and R.S. 2477 claims \ road ownership MUST be resolved promptly via legislation in Washington D.C., if elected officials will not listen to our collective voices and act accordingly then they need to step aside and let someone with some spine do the job.

I hope to see a row of 4WDs in front of the main south steps fo the capitol building. It looks like enough people will be coming that we may have to move it outside to the front steps so we don't conflict with a higher education luncheon also in the rotunda.
