Hey we will send an email out on Monday with more details. The long and short of it is we are not even going to discuss the current bills going through the legislature. We will not be promoting or urging the defeat of any bills. If concerned or interested parties want to discuss it with me before or after the speakers talk to us I will be happy to do so. But we are not using this rally to affect current bills, speaking mainly of HB 283. If you want to bring a sign saying, "HANG RENEGADE OHV RIDERS" then do it. This is a chance and place for you to exercise free speech in a public setting. This is a uniting rally not one of divisiveness. We know of the differing opinion on certain bills and issues. But we believe that while we have a few differences in HOW to get the job done, I believe we all want the same thing. We all want improved and protected access to Utah’s stunning backcountry.
Per my discussion with U4WDA Pres. Steve Edmunds, We WILL discuss the importance of R.S. 2477 and a bill in Washington that we strongly believe would resolve such right of way claims. We will question why NONE of Utah's congressional delegation has supported the bill, we will ask Washington County Commissioners to make good on their promise to go after the Sawmill road, Dan Jessop will speak to us, Mike Noel, and one or two others.
Bottom line we are rallying to unite our voices in a message that land use and access matters deeply to us and R.S. 2477 claims \ road ownership MUST be resolved promptly via legislation in Washington D.C., if elected officials will not listen to our collective voices and act accordingly then they need to step aside and let someone with some spine do the job.
I hope to see a row of 4WDs in front of the main south steps fo the capitol building. It looks like enough people will be coming that we may have to move it outside to the front steps so we don't conflict with a higher education luncheon also in the rotunda.
