Since I left the Air Force in December I have already dropped from 245 just by changing my diet, well that and being in the shop all day helps too.

I havnt been under 190 since I was a sophmore in high school and Ive learned to accept that my body is 80% tubby.

But I do always feel better when Im under the 200 mark.

So far only exercise I get is work itself Im too damm tired when I get home to do anything else so on top of what i already do the eating is where it kills me. The best diet I ever did was just by measuring my intakes, I kept all calorie intake for the day under 1600 and fat intake under 35g a day. Than once a week I would have a cheater, either it be drinking into stupidity or going out for a nice dinner.

I'll bite...

Age: 31
Height: 5' 9"
Weight: 215
Goal Weight: Between 175-185. I won't know for sure until I get down there.

I peaked at 235 and it has been great to cut down those 20 lbs. When my weight started coming off, it was because I started eating breakfast and lunch and maybe healthy snack between. I was sure to eat healthier, less quantity, and more often and 20 lbs came off pretty quick. I have plateaued though and need to change something up again. I have been trying to go to bed earlier so that I can wake up in time to go the gym in the morning. Once I can start doing regular exercise I'm hoping the lbs will fall off again.

Does anybody want a workout partner? I go to 24 hr fitness on 900 e and 5500 s (ish) and have always done better when I have had a commitment to somebody else to be at the gym. Let me know and I will meet you there in the AM.

Count me in!

Age: 32
Height: 6' 00"
Weight: 245 lbs.
Goal: around 200 lbs.

I am wanting to get there by also replacing soda with water. I am going to try and run 3 miles a day, three times a week for the next few months. After that I may try out the recumbent bike with a small amount of weight training. My real goal here is to get back to running 4 miles in thirty minutes. I think that I will be shooting more towards a fitness goal rather than a weight goal. But, if I get to the point of running 4 miles in thirty minutes then I think my weight will be at around 200 lbs.

I think I'll play some basketball for an hour or two tommorow that should do it.

:D oh great.
Since hiking Lake Blanch with you (more like huffing and puffing up the trail way behind) a few months ago I havn't done anything excercise related except backpack the grand canyon. :-\

I'm in,

Age:36

current weight ?
Goal weight: 155 LBS

Mountain biking is a favorite but i've only ridden once all year, sorry no bikes to donate. I absolutely need to be more active though. I need to start before going to Moab next month. Been thinking about picking up running again.

I've been trying to drop soda (but with mixed results) since the eye doctor suggested I might have high triglicerides a couple months ago. Sounded bad so I looked it up, taking in more sugar than needed/is used = not good. Yes I love sugar and carbs. Cutting soda - replacing it with fresh vegitable juice is ideal (yikes) but i won't be doing that! Reducing carbs and making sure the omega 3 fatty acids are present (fish oil = summer, cod liver oil = winter) should also help me or so I read. Trying to take PB&J and water to work for lunch instead of the combo meals every day. I'm getting a little better at it each week.

I'm the skinny dude
Age: 24
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 150 lbs
Goal Weight: 160-165 lbs of lean muscle

I've been trying to gain some more muscle mass, and have been going to the gym with my wife 2 times a week starting this month. Mostly doing cardio, but I'd like to get back to lifting: like I did in wrestling and speed and endurance training for tennis like in High School.

but I really think dropping the soda and french frees would be great and replacing those empty, fill me up, calories with good calories from healthy carbs and proteins.

I know it's a different goal but if anybody has any pointers on gaining some more lean muscle mass I'd appreciate it.

In the past all that happens when I do cardio is I drop 5 pounds then gain it back in muscle and as soon as I quit working out that 5 pounds of muscle atrophies back to whatever it was before.

I think we could all make a common goal of dropping the soda and have it be on the honor system, then after a certain amount of time, rewarding ourselves with a group wheeling trip: what do you guys think?

not to make fun of the commitment you all have stated but after reading all of this... at the bottom of the page the advertisement was

"How to lose 44 pounds in .... days"

I though this was funny...

Ok about me...

44 yrs old
5'6" yes I'm short
weight today at 184 lbs.
would like to get into the 160-165 range

I already drink 4-5 16 ounce propels a day while at work and only drink 1-2 coke zeros a day and was actually losing weight and was in the 169 range but then had surgery on my shoulder (completed the all 4 corner make over, both knee, and other shoulder already has the surgery) and started to put it all back on again...

One of the ways I lost weight was to actually start eating 5-6 small meals a day instead of the 3 big ones I was having. and of course the water!
As far as exercise... I am an electrician/data technician and usually I am up and down a ladder all day and it helps! I also started to do a fast walk everywhere that I had to walk to... now this isn't like running but they say that walking is better for losing weight then running... so there...

Oh yeah for that person that wanted to get into a size 34 pants... I wear a 33 so catch up!!!

Rusted, did your plan consist of any excercise? Or did you see your results from just the new eating patterns?

I will say "no" but not officially. I did not start running or anything, but at the same time I was not lazy. I started to take the stairs or a walk at my lunch instead of drive the car. Park in the back of the walmart parking lot and walk a little further. Just looked for excuses to walk more, and not excuses of why I need to be lazy. For the most part I did it all with portion control, cut out snacking, and told my body that it was ok to feel a little hungry sometimes.

Wow, last time I had a 33" waist, I weighed 240 lbs (but could run a 4.8 40 yard dash and kick your ass when I was done) That was about 1989, though....

I'd be ecstatic to hit the 34" waist. I'm not bad, I'm a 36" (maybe a 35"?), but that extra inch is gonna be hard to take off. :D

Guess, I'll swallow my pride...

45 years old. 6'3" Last Thursday I weighed 300 before hopping on a table for sinus and ear surgery. Weighed 283 today. Would be nice to lose some weight though. Both kids are now in college, my wife is having a tough time compensating meals for two.

No real plan for a change, but 225-240 is a realistic goal. When I retired from the Navy 7 years I weighed 235. I've been as heavy as 315 though...

I need to get soda out of my diet. I find that I dont crave soda if I eat breakfast and have water. But I still have a hard time doing it. That and portion control is my first step.

Well good luck all. If anyone needs any help or advise just give me a PM.

I also started a blog, its in my sig. It has a bit of info and links to sites that helped me.

I am free, but if I help enough people maybe someone can renew my membership status. I hate getting those ads!

Either way, I hope you all have success. I feel like a new person and I love the new me. I will be at the gym today in case any of you are. I go to the 24 hour fitness on 1300 east 104th south. (Next to Smiths). I will be there from about 5-6:30 or so. Just look for the bald guy in the adidas shorts. I am a lot friendlier than I look I promise!:D

If anybody is interested, I have a spreadsheet I created that helps track your daily intake of protein, carbs, fat, and overall daily caloric intake. It has a menu on one tab that has quite a few different foods and the micros for each specific food item. When you want to create a meal plan, you just cut and past the food you plan on eating that day, and it will calculate by percent and total. I would be happy to e-mail the spreadsheet if anybody is interested. Just send me a PM with your e-mail address.
