The last time I went to Moab 4wheeling was over five years ago.. Looking back it seems like its been forever. My daughter and I headed down for Thanksgiving and it was one of the best trips we've had together. Highs were in the low 40's and nights were well below freezing overcast throughout the weekend. I accidently shredded my roof top tent ( :( ) a few hours before we left so we ended up staying in the $75 Ozark special. Outstanding tents btw!... We pretty much had Kane Creek to ourselves.

The 100 was a hoot! It exceeded my expectations in every way. (except for the annoying bass sound coming from whoknowswhere that's been there since I bought it. It doesn't bother me too bad on short trips but after 7 hours of highway I was ready to pull my hair out.) We tried many of the tougher obstacles on Hells Revenge, Poison Spider and Gold Spike and only gave up on a few.

Obviously the 100 isn't a crawler but from a stockish Land Cruiser on a 6-7 rated trail standpoint:

-The stock rear and front air locker was a godsend on the tougher obstacles.
-After all those years of smack talk I'm now a huge fan of automatic transmissions
-The limited travel of the IFS did not bother me at all
-The receiver hitch was a major rock anchor--doh!
-I did not break the el' cheapo NAPA CV shafts like I had anticipated
-Much like the Rot Box being low and wide I never felt out of control. Comfortable even when I nearly flopped it on its side (twice lol)
-It's funny watching peoples expressions when the grandma car follows them through an obstacle :eek:
-I do NOT want to go to work tomorrow.

I dig the 100 series. You should for sure make some more of those aluminum tailgate parts. I'd go for one...

Sounds like a GREAT trip Andrew! Good to hear the 100 works well in Moab, pretty interesting about the IFS feeling fine. :cool:

Do I dare ask about the RTT, or should we just leave that one alone? :eek:

I probably should make a few more of those tail gate covers. The only potential issue is I had to irreversibly drill slightly larger holes in the tail gate to fit the nut rivets. Depending on possible resale it might be a problem refitting the original carpet..

The rooftop... oh boy.. where do I start. It all started when my wife entered a parking garage with a low ceiling. Luckily she stopped before the whole thing ripped off the roof :ugh: The original cover was shredded. I fixed the poles the best I could. I went to deploy it before we left---pole busted--speared a hole through the side---I somehow managed to tear a large gash in the roof in the meantime. First gen Mombasa. Original death ladder, worthless rain fly and an already bad cover it was probably for the best :sick: Not sure what's next the four person RTT's are super expensive.

I love this rig. I am an IFS convert myself. Preach on brutha!

We were in the boulder mtns this weekend, and looking toward moab all we could see was a blanket of clouds covering the entire area. The tip tops of the la sals were poking through, but that was it. Thanks for the update.
