Steve,

Do you have coordinates for the campsite? I'm mostly sure for camping, but might not make the group departure.

Thanks

I've never been there. I was just going to wander around the Manti forest until we found a spot. Let me see if I can do some more research and get you more of an answer.

Regretfully, I'm out. I just won't have everything ready by this weekend. Even if I do, it would be a Thursday night finish and I don't want HTT to be it's maiden voyage. Hopefully it's not too late for someone to take my spot.

Steve, I'll be in touch about welding up those shock mounts.

Well, get it done and make Mary Ellen Gulch the maiden trail then. We're meeting at the Chevron at Saturday morning at 0800.

(Steve, you got any other 4Runners on this trip I could try to steal? :D)

There are several waterfall climbs in HTT with different lines...<snip> I think I could make it with rock stacking and skinny pedal, but its more carnage and risk than I care to put it through which is why I've already turned down the opportunity this summer. I've seen way too many built rigs limp out of there on the few times I've been there.

Wow, Bart, should I be concerned?

I'm really looking forward to this trip. For those that know the area well, any recommended camping spots up in the Manti/La Sal area? I'd rather have a spot that's a bit more secluded and primitive than a place with RV hookups, flush toilets, and pavilions.

I'm cool with pulling into town late, offloading the jeep, sleeping on the trailer, and hittin' the trail in the morning. Where is a good place to leave the trailer?

Wow, coming from the north I've always taken Spanish Fork Canyon and the 89 turn off to get to that neck of the woods. Google thinks I should go through Nephi, and up 132 (don't even know what canyon that is called, Salt Creek?) What say the masses?

i just went there a month ago, and going through nephi was so much easier to pull, cause there isn't that big of hills to pull up. and go through moroni.

we camped up the manti community campground. it was nice and secluded it had running water throughout the camp area. and the poopers were outhouses. there also is a small lil lake/resivior next to it that you could do some fising or whatever pleases you.
here is a link to this particular campground.. hope this helps.. still wish i could make it.. grrrr

Yep, Community is a good one, also there are some good secluded campsites up Ephraim, no restrooms but smoother canyon road if your towing.

yep, through Nephi to Ephraim is the fastest and easiest pull. get off second nephi exit head east over nephi canyon through ftn green, to Moroni, turn south at end of Moroni to Ephraim.

Thats funny. I have always found the spanish fork way easier for me. My durango pulling my jeep likes that way better. If had a diesel I am sure it would not matter which way to go and would just pick the shorter way.

Really looking forward to your trip report steve. Hope all goes well. You guys will have a blast.

see for me i do have a diesel, but older and most people think mine sucks, cause so it may not be a "real" diesel. and with my heavy trailer and jeep, i actually had a harder time going up spanish fork when i headed to moab, then i did when i went to manti and i was towing doubles going to manti. but that's just my old diesel. google maps say you get there faster by nephi, but i've never tried to actually time it both ways..

i'm really trying, i have a good job lined up, so if nothing comes before that ill have it fixed up within a month. and also i have an older turbo diesel motor home that i might be able to make some quick cash on so then it might be fixed sooner.. lets just pray i get it fixed before summer is over.. lol
