Ah, we got one today at our dealership, its a 03 with 53k, I saw the manual trans and it was the second one we got. I would have thought that was counter intuitive... I hate wheeling with a stick for the most part...

I would imagine I will see more sticks, they are a pita when wheeling! I was just surprised to see a stick in so many of them when its built to be a wheeler!

How do you figure that a Rubicon was built to be a "wheeler"? Rubicons are pretty boy Jeeps that were built to make people feel like they're rock crawlers. Secondly, any yayhoo can hop in an automatic and bounce their way around a trail. It takes real talent to drive a manual and still kick ass. :)

I used to like to wheel a stick, now Im lazy and like my auto. after spending years shifting a semi all day, everything I have now is auto.

I find it vastly amusing how many people have opinions about wheeling yet they DON'T wheel! Taking an auto to Moab all of 3 times doesn't make you a "wheeler", beating your junk regardless of what you have makes you a wheeler.

And just for the record, I wheel a manual and even after driving an auto on the trail, I'd still take my standard truck transmission-ed girl and challenge pretty much anyone to try and keep up with me. :)

ive wheeled both and there is a lot more bouncing in the stick!

And your spotter always says alright come up this really really slow and you know its just gonna smash so you try to do it slow but its not gonna happen haha not likely

i think everyone should rock CRAWL with stick first

and if they suck that bad they can do auto...
i was hard on my stick trucks in town so i got an auto (no redline so i just guessed) i want a stick back now :/

I haul new jeeps from the rail head in slc to dealerships in ut, id, wy, and nv. I would say that about 1 in 20 are stick. and 1 in about 50 are right hand drive:rofl:.

I have wheeled my bothers '76 K10 with the auto, and must say, it can be a much smoother ride than a stick.......but, I still prefer to row my own, on road and off. My truck isnt what most of you guys would go wheel in (155 wheelbase, no lift, 4 spd manual, open diffs) but it does get me where i wanna go. I must admit though, places where my three brother's trucks can creep up a hill in low range with the auto tranny do sometimes require me to snug the seat belt, point the truck, and jamb the skinny pedal to the floor :D

If your talking in reference to me your way off :) I have never even wheeled a auto. Always had a manual, and I dont beat on my vehicle either. but, I have highly considered converting to a auto after driving friends, or brothers rigs.
