I bought my Hummers (I have an H3 also) because they are great all around rigs. I drive mine comfortably to Moab.... wheel all week and drive it home. To prepare to wheel just means lowering the tire pressure and turning up the shocks.

I have three kids that I take wheelin' with the wife and I, with the youngest in a car seat, so that pretty much put me in a full sized rig.

I get enough crusty looks from the greenies to last me..... so I appreciate the open minded 4x4 owners who can see past the propaganda the greenies put out about my rig.

The truth is.... IFS does limit the big sucker in the rocks, but I find the truck surprises a lot of wheelers. It is more capable than most thought it was. It won't be running Helldorado anytime soon....... but that's OK with me. ;)

When you care about the sheet metal.....it adds stress. :D

Looks like a fun family rig! That 6.0 is a neat motor, probably moves that H2 pretty well. :D

Where's this pic from? Looks very steep!-

Thanks Greg!

It is a good family wheeler. I'm always checking the classifieds here and at Pirate for a good used buggy. One day this will be my tow rig. :D

That pic is wipe-out hill.

Here are a couple more.

Here are a couple from Poison Spider with the ProComp All Terrain 37's that I run in the winter time. You can see those rear drop brackets for the control arms and also why they had to go. The truck is an optical illusion.......it makes big tires look small.

Another use for the truck is as a tow rig for the bike to Sturgis. I've ridden to Sturgis on the bike several times...... but it is a hell of a lot more comfortable in the H2 and I can bring more stuff. :greg:

I need your help!

OK wheelers............ I really would like to hear some truth from some of you guys.

I've owned a Jeep (CJ-7), a Sami, a full size Chevy shortbed, a full size Bronco, and a full size Blazer, over the years. I have never owned a vehicle that was as singled out and as disliked and disrespected as this truck is.

I know why the greenies don't like it....... and their arguments are mostly ignorant. The H2 is no worse in pollution or gas mileage than any other full sized rig. My other trucks even with solid axles were not as capable or comfortable as this truck is.

What makes the H2 the target of so much disrespect? I invite honest answers. I really am "in the dark" on this, and would like to hear from other peoples perspectives.

I wheel with Hummers from around the country and most of us are just like most of you....... We want to fit in with this community and fight for the same things you guys fight for........ Open access and trail education for the next generation of wheelers are goals of ours too. I'm asking for your insight to help me understand how to do this.

Here are some pics of friends of mine, just a few but they show that we all want many of the same things out there.

IMO... I think the disrespect for the Hummer brand is based on the eco-nazi/treehugger/enviro-terrorists views of war and the tie to the original Hummer H1's being a military vehicle. Those same liberals are subconsciously tying your vehicle to the war effort and their blind hatred towards it.

As far as a wheelin' vehicle, I respect anyone and any vehicle that gets out there, venturing off the paved roads and exploring nature. It doesn't have to be some crazy rock buggy or a vehicle with 42" tires... someone in a mildly-built Suzuki Sidekick exploring the White Rim Trail is going to get the same respect from me as a guy in a Rubicon TJ on 37's working his way up Pritchett Canyon.

I think a lot of wheelers, including many of the people on here, aren't sure how take a guy in a Hummer who actually wheels it. I personally think that's a rare thing, but very respectable. There may be a perceived dislike over the internet but the truth is that everyone on here likes some different. We're not a group that is focusing on one exclusive brand so there's a good deal of acceptance here. I'm sure if you get out on the trail during one of the upcoming trips you'll fit right in. As capable as Hummers are coming out of the factory I think we're going to see more and more on the trails.

BTW, I like your rig... love seeing the trail pics and would enjoy wheeling with you someday. There's something to be said for wheelin in comfort, in a vehicle build from the factory to be highly capable offroad.

Yours is probably the nicest H2 I have seen and I don't mind what anyone wheels in. Even if someone shows up in a RAV4 I don't look down on them since they just want to be out wheeling. I think most people's perception of an H2 is like mine where I picture rap videos and people crusing around town with 22" rims and 10" lift and chrome anywhere they can put it. I think there should be more people like you and your friends that actually wheel their H2.

Like Greg said, its a perception thing. I see H2's mostly running to the grocery store, so I associate them with soccer Mom's. Thus, they aren't a 'real' 4x4. But when I see them off road, and I will admit I never actually have aside from pictures, I'm impressed that someone would.
In addition, they are sinfully ugly! :D

I think that folks in the 4x4 community might feel that those who buy a HUMMER H2 are pompus assholes, who think that by simply owning the vehicle they are superior to all other vehicles with 4 wheel drive. That's a generalization of course, but it happens.

I will say that there are alot of those types of H2 owners out there.. Hell i saw an H2 3-4 years ago on Hell's Revenge with something like 28" rims.. how lame is that.. That's an insult to any self respecting 4x4 enthusiast out on a trail.. Don't bring your McDonald's burger into Carver's kind of a thing...

Anyways.. I think that you are the exception the 'average' H2 owner. I think that's awesome that you get out and wheel, explore, and get to carry a gun for a living.

Thanks gents I appreciate the comments....... please add anything else you want to.

I agree that the perceptions are out there. I am a former jarhead and I am a conservative guy........ so the greenies opinions don't bother me at all..... (I find most of them are weak and will settle for scowls even when they have the opportunity to say what's on their mind, they prefer to share their opinions only with those they suspect feel as they do.)....... It's the negative opinions of fellow wheelers that bother me.

Like many of you, I don't like just one brand of 4x4. I am into American brands and I like Jeeps a lot. I respect the capabilities of many Toyota's also.

I find on the trails especially when wheelin' with a new group that many Jeepers think the H2 is going to slow them down or is not up to the task. They are usually shocked with the performance of the H2. It's not that the truck wasn't capable..... it was that they thought (and really believed) it wasn't capable.

As far as ugly goes........ beauty is in the eye of the beholder. :D

I think it looks bad-ass. Although, I also love the look of a built Heep! ;)

Aint that the truth. I personally think H2's are big and ugly, but I drive a YJ and the rest of the known universe seems to think it's ugly.
That said, I'd share a trail with you any day.

Thanks again for the comments. I would wheel with almost anyone in just about anything....... unless it's broken before we even begin......I've done that before and it always pretty much sucks. Anyone can break on a trail, but if your junk is broken before you even start........

Here are a few more pics and some of my wheelin' friends from SLC and Moab.

Is that silver JK from up near EagleWood golf course? (not that they're not like belly buttons up there)

:rofl::rofl:

Yeah I've said that to a few of my Jeeper JK buddies. The Hummer slogan is, "Like nothing else". The JK slogan should be just like everybody else. :D

All my Harley rider friends are the same way...... unique..... like everybody else. :D

No he is from Draper and he bought a Sahara on purpose. He's building it a little at a time and keeping it legal for the street. His last Jeep was a YJ that he put a lot into...... it was great off road but not comfortable and a little dangerous on the street.

He put a Terra Flex lift on this JK and with that Unlimited's wheelbase in Moab...... this thing wheels really well.

I doubt the wheelin' is why I saw four identical silver Rubicons parked at my kids baseball games this summer. :ugh:
