Well I found out my engine was trashed when I removed the main caps to find all of main bearings some of the rod bearings have spun in the journals. So now I'll either have to have the block machined or find another engine. But on the good side I have made some progress on the rest of it. I've got the front cross member mostly finished. I still need to add some gussets where it is welded to the frame. Both axles are in and the body back on. The stock rear springs are sitting much lower with the weight of the body on it. Hopefully it will level out with the engine installed. If not, I'll find some new springs for the rear. I still need to build the 231/D300 transfer case and drive lines.

what shop do u work at?

The pictures you see here were taken at my former employer Henry Day Ford. As of last Thursday I no longer work there. I now work for Salt Lake City Corp at there fleet management dept. So now the rest of the work on the S10 will be done in my garage at home.

Looks good! Is there a body lift in there or is that just how high the body is off the frame stock? What are you going to do about the small wheel wells in the back?

There is a 2" body lift. I added the lift to help give me some clearance between the engine/trans/frame and the body and to help reduce the amount of fender trimming that is going to be required when I try to squeeze 38-40" tires under this thing.

They did let me.....though I think they were growing tired of it. Many other techs also had projects of their own but not quit this big. But it had nothing to to with me quitting. I left for my own reasons.

It's been difficult to find time to work on this since I've brought it home. Even more difficult to post updates. But I do have one for you guys tonight. This is my new pride and joy! After a lot of time gathering parts and about $1600 later, I have my doubler fully assembled and ready to install. It consists of the original NV 233 that was in the Jimmy. It's been disassembled, cut and welded to make the front half of the doubler. It is bolted Dana 300 (thanks Seth) using an Box4rocks adapter and clocking ring from DD Machine. The Dana 300 has also been disassembled, and rebuilt with JB Conversions front and rear 32 spline output shafts. Not pictured is a triple stick from JB custom fabrication. The final gear ratio is about 7.4 to 1

Here are a few more updated pics. I've got some 63" rear leaf springs in the rear and it's finally supporting it's own weight. I also got the 233/300 doubler sitting in it's place.
