I guess I should have posted the steering drama in here instead of the ill-fated Britney trip.

So the steering was pretty unbearable on this sweet ride due to a few factors. Big tires, completely shot spring and shackle bushings, and no hydro-assist.

I ordered new bushings and tried to repair the old shackles, but the metal was too fatigued and tire. I converted it to normal H style shackles and finished swapping the bushings out.

Now we're gettin to the real booty-fab deets. The night before the trail run I decided to swap out my steering box for a tapped box and ram. I started this at 10 pm. My old booty-fab steering shaft repair would not slide into the new input shaft enough to use the pinch bolt. So I uh... welded it. I WAS DESPERATE!!!

Everything was hooked up, ram installed, system bled... and it poured fluid out the input seal. I had ruined it with too much heat.

Today I had some time to pull off that old booty fab shaft and grind out the weld. It looks like I'll be able to repair the seal and save the box, but I need to watch a few videos and maybe order a tool.

Since the new/used steering box is gonna eat input seals at a rate of 0.67 trails per seal, I decided to buy Britney a new box. I hope it's nice and tight.
