i love the king of the hammers movies cause its like a story ! the only others i have are haulin or crawling 6.. its kinda cool .. and one made by bfe films.. im gona start a new post about it instead of hijacking yours.. 4 inch shackle up front to lower it would work great but like you said get it done and wheel it and see how it does

I just ordered king of the hammers anarchy (2010), so it should be here in a few days. When my truck's done we can have a party and watch it at my place. (and in Moab for James).

Bad as in good, or bad as in bad? I figured their budget got bigger each year for the movies.

While a buggy would be fun, I enjoy challenging myself, and I don't have the funds or the trailer or the tow rig to haul a buggy. I've gotta stay street legal. Plus this rig will go places I'll be too scared to go. until I'm pushing this rig to the outer limits, a buggy doesn't even sound intriguing.

Got some more of the tunnel done tonight. My wife came out and helped me chisel the undercoating off. She's the best. That's the first time she's volunteered to help me. It was really great of her, I'm sure there's much more she'd rather be doing than chizeling 29 year old crap off the floor of my car.

All these pics probably look the exact same to everyone else, but each panel takes me about 2 hours to build. This is the passenger side.

I'm still not entirely sure how I'm going to paint the underside of the tunnel. I'll probably have to drop the tranny/tcase and just spray paint the crap out of it. I hope my twin sticks from davez arrive soon. He has some cool products, but communication isn't his strength, and they don't get shipped when he says they will.

I'll be out working on this all day, so all you loca guys, feel free to stop by and lend a hand if you don't have anything better to do. I'll be tubbing the firewall today, finishing the tranny tunnel, and hopefully getting all the steering stuff (ps pump, hydro assist, idler pulley, lines, bled) nd ready to go.

Then, if by some miracle I still have time left, I'll be mounting the gas tank and starting her up.

If anyone is going to home depot in the next week, will you look for this color for me? I heard it might be discontinued, so I need to buy up about 10 more cans just so I have plenty to use when things get scratched.

http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?jspStoreDir=hdus&catalogId=10053&productId=100670420&navFlow=3&keyword=rustoleum+wildflower&langId=-1&searchRedirect=rustoleum+wildflower&storeId=10051&endecaDataBean=com.homedepot.sa.el.wc.integration.endeca.EndecaDataBean%402465d6cf&ddkey=Search

If anyone could pick up a few for me, that'd be great. I'll pay ya $5 a can. I've run my local HD (American Fork) out several times, and they only stock one or two.

Today I decided to tub the firewall. I figure that while I'm in there, I might as well tub it as much as possible so I don't have to re-do it in a couple years. I probably didn't need to tub it at all, but since it was all rust down there, I figured I'd tub it anyway just in case I ever wanted to run 40s.

The first time I tubbed a firewall was my tacoma, and it took 2 weeks start to finish. Next one was lee's (yota4runner), and that took about 4 days.

This one is 98% done in one day. I still have a few things to weld up, but it's almost done. I hope I don't have to tub another firewall for another 5 years.

plating. The hardest part is bending your piece of sheet metal to fit the hole.

I had to cut slits in mine to allow the sheet metal to flex better. Here is the passenger's side completed:

driver's side:

This picture shows just how extreme this tubbing was. I could probably fit 44's before they'd rub here.

And the body mount. Remember, I'm going to weld my sliders to the body, so they'll be serving as the body mount.

Goodbye body mount.

And this is where I left off for the night. I was starting to get really frustrated, so I just decided to call it a night and work on it later when I'm not so tired.

Just finished watching my KOH 2010 "Anarchy" DVD. Cool dvd. I wish they'd shown a bit more of the rock crawling, but it was very cool. I'm super impressed that two f-toys (leaf-sprung toyotas with 22REs) made it in the top 30.

There were sure some cool buggies in there, but that movie gave me even less of a desire to build a buggy. I'm happy with my street-legal crawler. I've got enough blood sweat and tears into this toyota, I can only imagine the time and money involved with a full-on buggy.

I'm sure this build thread is way too much info (personal and useless pictures), but I hope it helps someone.

Worked on the front of the tranny tunnel tonight. I had to keep as much clearance as possible to give room for the heater. i think it's going to work.

I was going to cut out more of the floor (rusty), but I ran out of cut-off wheels. I'm hoping to finish up welding the floors tomorrow night.

Then on THursday night I plan on mounting the seats. Then on Friday, herculining the entire interior and the exterior of the firewall.

Thanks Mark. I owe a lot to you sensei. I'd been wheeling on fire roads before I met you, but you showed me the light when we went to moab and did Fins n Things that one day. I'm definitely hooked. We've gotta go wheeling again soon, I can actually go up steep things now. :)

What are your plans for your CJ? Last I heard you had 35's, SUA, and you made custom rear quarter panels. Are you going to link it? D-60s? 42s? Or are you going to keep it semi-street legal?

Nothing fancy, 401 AMC, new frame because the old rusted to about nothing and some new paint. Repair a lot of the rust. Other than that still pretty much the same. We are looking at a Moab trip in October if you are interested. Could be like older times you know.

Steve I like the tunnel. Your rusted floor looks like ya mite wanna get a tetna shot before toching it, Lol.

On a side note, we did Forrest Lake for the first time on Sat., Wow that was a blast did it all in 2lo, mostly bcuz I sheared four bolts on the front Driveline just past the river and around the first bend. Dumb! but 2 lo was fine just took the easier lines. Any how looks good.
