The upcoming moto ride/quick report.

I put in a few hard hours are little moab this morning with my buddy Nate (a fellow desert racer). We put together a couple of loops (well, one of them already existed as an actual loop, the other we just strung a bunch of existing trails together to make a loop) that have a little bit of everything for the desert racer to practice on (rocks, whoops-lots of whoops-sand, washes, trees, a tiny bit of single track, etc.) and we pounded on those for two hours this morning. We were riding by 7:30 this morning, and loaded the truck at 9:30...perfect weather. What a great way to start the day.

My legs burn a bit, my lower back is a little sore (two hours of whoops will do that)...but boy do I love riding dirt bikes.

We rode pretty much non-stop, which the exception of two stops to make some adjustments to suspension clickers. Great morning workout...and I need more mornings just like it. I've gotta ride 100 miles in a week...can't wait!

How early is early? My wife is going on a long run so I'll have my boy til 10. The trailhead I mentioned the other day is only 10 minutes up the canyon from me unless someone else has an idea.

Went for a dayride on the 690, rode from GJ to Gateway, up John Brown Canyon and over the La Sals... picked up the La Sal loop road to the top of Sand Flats road. I decided to ride a little of the Slickrock trail on the 690! Needless to say, it was a bit much for that trail. ;) Stopped at Milts in Moab for lunch, topped off the tank and climbed back on the bike. I rode up Onion Creek, over Hideout Road and over the La Sals again and back to Gateway then on home. Ended up with 250 miles on the bike at the end of the day.

Very cool Greg! Dual sport riding is really starting to set it's hooks in me.

Thanks! Today was a great day. Dual sporting is awesome, dirt biking is great too... but covering so much different terrain in a matter of hours is what makes it fun.

We need a race that is similar to Erzberg. I was driving past the gravel pit in N. Salt Lake thinking we need a race at a gravel pit. Paul, could that ever happen? How cool would it be to incorporate a climb up the face of a gravel pit?

Went for an afternoon ride on the 990 today, decided to make a similar route as the last ride on my 690. I wanted to make a good comparison of the 2 bikes and thought that making a similar trip 2 weeks apart would be a good way to compare them both. I didn't go up Onion Creek and Hideout Road though, they're a bit rougher than I wanted to deal with, plus I was short on time and the weather was questionable. The 990's size is noticeable in the dirt, but that didn't stop me from jumping it over a cattle guard at the top of Sand Flats Road!

Ended up with 230 miles on the bike today in 5 hours time, hitting the freeway from Cisco to GJ... the 990.... is...... AWESOME. :greg:

Me, Tyson and Kevin did 5 mile pass on Saturday. Kevin's chain skipped a tooth or two on the cam gears. I guess the chain was all worn out and stretched.
WE Did learn a new way to tow from some older dude.
You go peg to peg with a short strap. It works mint.

Of course we are! Well I know I am for sure. Not sure if Stratton has decided to or not yet. I will be heading out Friday afternoon after my boy gets up from his nap. We will be taking our trailer and staying the night again. Luke said he is also. So that means you should bring your new trailer also and we can all pit together and our kids can play.

It's been so long since I've ridden on a Saturday I don't even remember what it's like anymore.

I went out to Jordan River on Thursday and went down and twisted the hell out of my knee on the first half lap due to them severely over-watering the track. Thought I might have to go see a doctor about it but it's finally feeling a little better.

The ironic part about it is that was exactly two weeks after I had my first real bad crash there. I was hitting the doubles and didn't see the giant ruts that had built up after the second set of doubles out there. 4th gear pinned + getting crossrutted = a bad day.

Getting real sick of having to sit out and watch everyone else have fun. And it's especially frustrating knowing both of those crashes could have been avoided by adequate track prep. Oh well..
