Don't use bb's they rust. Use either Equal or Airsoft pellets.
Why a sugar substitute?

35" MTR's is all.
So should I mount them myself and take them in for balancing or just have a shop do the entire process for best results. Anyone recomend a shop for this?
You will likely get pulled over and harrased about the tire sticking out of the wheelwell, then when you give them attitude they will write you up for your beadlocks and taze you.
I'd tase Cody given the chance. Wouldn't you? :greg:

That might be fun to watch
I mounted mine myself, and then I put 9 ounces of airsoft BB's in my 37" MTR's. I just bought a big tub of 10,000 bb's at Sports Authority for like $15. I read somewhere how many you are supposed to put in, I'll look for the link. They don't seem unbalanced at all. I haven't had any trouble with cops and I have driven to and from Moab twice...and on the streets every-so-often. IMO I would run them, but that's just my .02 cents.
Edit: here is a link to some bb's, although airsoft bb's should work just as well.

The only difference is that the big TR stands out a lot more than your ring. The beadlocks you have dont' appear any different from a street lock.
hmmm, decisions decisions.
I looked it up, page 17 of the january 1 2007 edition, state of utah department of public saftey. Sorry dude! 500.00 to me!
I would like to think I don't need to differentiate between laws and "interpretations" here.
Lets put it this way... you get the $500 if you find a LAW that says they are illegal... a note in an inspection manual is NOT a law, its simply one branch of the governments interpretation of said law. Can't stick you with a ticket without a law.
Similar threads pop up every year it seems... I've offered $$$ for someone to show me a ticket... nothing yet. I've got ~30k and 7 years of driving on my beadlocks, not a single issue. Oh yeah... they say DOT in the same place a non-beadlock rim does
