35" MTR's is all.

So should I mount them myself and take them in for balancing or just have a shop do the entire process for best results. Anyone recomend a shop for this?

I doubt anybody can do the mounting any better then yourself, so why pay for it. Plus then you can just say stick it on your machine without any hassle.

not D.O.T. approved, and I wouldnt run anything under 32 bolt, (possibly leaky) might be ok with TR's. I run dyi welded beads on 38.5x14.5's without anykind of balancing at all, and it was extremely smooth until I bent a ford9" shaft. I have a friend who had his balanced at Big O, They were way off and they told him how much wieght and where and he welded some heavy nuts on the inside of the wheel. worked good.

You will likely get pulled over and harrased about the tire sticking out of the wheelwell, then when you give them attitude they will write you up for your beadlocks and taze you.

when I mounted mine, I just centered the tire best I could on the rim, then centered the outside ring with the lines on the bead, sprayed everything with soapy water tightened down the bolts(all 32) evenly watching the bead lines, then backed them off and retightened..watch you even pressure on your bolts as you work your way around the previous ones that were tight will loosen. I run at 10lbs and havent lost a single pound in two seasons. usually a regular tire will lose some come winter.strange.

I mounted mine myself, and then I put 9 ounces of airsoft BB's in my 37" MTR's. I just bought a big tub of 10,000 bb's at Sports Authority for like $15. I read somewhere how many you are supposed to put in, I'll look for the link. They don't seem unbalanced at all. I haven't had any trouble with cops and I have driven to and from Moab twice...and on the streets every-so-often. IMO I would run them, but that's just my .02 cents.

Edit: here is a link to some bb's, although airsoft bb's should work just as well.

The only difference is that the big TR stands out a lot more than your ring. The beadlocks you have dont' appear any different from a street lock.

hmmm, decisions decisions.

I looked it up, page 17 of the january 1 2007 edition, state of utah department of public saftey. Sorry dude! 500.00 to me!

I would like to think I don't need to differentiate between laws and "interpretations" here. ;)

Lets put it this way... you get the $500 if you find a LAW that says they are illegal... a note in an inspection manual is NOT a law, its simply one branch of the governments interpretation of said law. Can't stick you with a ticket without a law.

Similar threads pop up every year it seems... I've offered $$$ for someone to show me a ticket... nothing yet. I've got ~30k and 7 years of driving on my beadlocks, not a single issue. Oh yeah... they say DOT in the same place a non-beadlock rim does ;)

Im not trying to start any kind of debate here, but if an inspector passes a vehicle with beadlocks or anything else thats not up to par, he has broken the law and is facing fines and loosing his licence. If the inspector passes a car with bad brakes for instance and the car gets into a wreck, and UHP decides it was due to the brakes then it becomes a real problem for the inspector. Im not trying to split hairs here. I believe that some of the items on our inspections are unreasonable, but I dont make the laws, (or rules)

I think part of Kurt's point here is that although it may say "do not pass if beadlocks are present" in the inspection rules, there is no law which a LEO can draw from to issue a ticket for beadlocks.

Run em. I ran King Racing wheels for three years daily driving on 36tsls, that was a ride - bumpy lame ride, but cool for me. :-\ I had them on there for three more years with 38sx but that was trailering. I have never owned MTRs, but they would ride like a caddy compared to bias tsls. Run em for sure.

PS, I now have a set of steel TRs and though I trailer, I would not hesitate to run em on the street if the entire tread of my tires was not located outside the jeep tub.
