Im not trying to start any kind of debate here, but if an inspector passes a vehicle with beadlocks or anything else thats not up to par, he has broken the law and is facing fines and loosing his licence. If the inspector passes a car with bad brakes for instance and the car gets into a wreck, and UHP decides it was due to the brakes then it becomes a real problem for the inspector. Im not trying to split hairs here. I believe that some of the items on our inspections are unreasonable, but I dont make the laws, (or rules)
Your reading into this all wrong. I'm not saying it is LEGAL to pass them... I'm just saying it is NOT illegal to run them. Catch 22 of sorts. The UHP (DPS) was charged with the task of interpreting Utah's actual laws and statutes into a dumbed down inspection manual, no offense. It is what it is.
