Aren't TR beadlocks DOT approved?
Aren't TR beadlocks DOT approved?
From their website, in the smaller font
http://www.trailready.com/wheels.html
TrailReady Bead lock Wheels are not DOT approved and are intended for Off-Highway Use.
sad thing was the Trooper was across a 4 way stop intersection noticed that I did not have a front plate,
yeah, but I might not have much leg to stand on with the manufacturer stating on their own www for off road use only, and I found a sticker on the inside of one of the wheels that states the same.

For absolute liability concerns, not because they are worried about them used on the highway. Roll bars, bumpers, etc all say the same thing to disenfranchise themselves from liability. I think if one beadlock company were to pay for the NHTSA testing, this would go away for all of them... however their market is so small respectively that shelling out the hundreds of thousands of dollars for testing isn't likely to happen.
I would just go to court and ask "which law specifically rules out the use of beadlocks". They have laws that determine hight, width, length, weight, headlight type, aim, bumper height, width, etc, etc, etc. Nothing about wheels.
I have to admit since running bead locks I pay closer attention to my tires now that I did without bead locks (on any vehicle).
I decided paying my mortgage was more important than having beadlocks, so I sold mine.
sorry folks I have not been on here very much. I decided it was to time consuming to fight with them on this and I just paid the fine and purchased street wheels to avoid messing around with this all together, then I relocated to Seattle, WA to boot.
Working for M$ needed work and nothing was panning out in SLC, and nothing like some good old fashion change to shake up your life...
Oh and I miss my Jeep something mad... weather has been spectacular here, 29 days straight with no rain.
