it doesn't cost anything to fight it, and you have nothing to lose but your time.

I still plan on mounting mine up, but I'm going to pain the rings flat black so that they aren't so obvious--especially when moving.

sad thing was the Trooper was across a 4 way stop intersection noticed that I did not have a front plate,

If he stopped you for no front plate, you might be able to fight that. That became a secondary offense this past session, ie they can't pull you over for that, but can ticket you after pulling you over for something else.

I think that you should also keep in mind many people on the side of johnny law don't like the 4x community. Possibly your ticketing officer falls into this category. When you go to court to fight it, then the officer should be there too, and most judges tend to be partial to officers over citizens, right or wrong.

By all means though I am not saying to just drop your pants and pay the fine; just things to keep in mind.

I'd fight it no matter what, there's plenty of technicalities in court that you may not be aware of which will let you get by without a fine. Don't ask me how I know... :guilty:

Be as prepared as you can be, note the things Cruiseroutfit has told you and research what Skylinerider mentioned. You may be able to skate off scott free with that one.

yeah, but I might not have much leg to stand on with the manufacturer stating on their own www for off road use only, and I found a sticker on the inside of one of the wheels that states the same.

For absolute liability concerns, not because they are worried about them used on the highway. Roll bars, bumpers, etc all say the same thing to disenfranchise themselves from liability. I think if one beadlock company were to pay for the NHTSA testing, this would go away for all of them... however their market is so small respectively that shelling out the hundreds of thousands of dollars for testing isn't likely to happen.

I would just go to court and ask "which law specifically rules out the use of beadlocks". They have laws that determine hight, width, length, weight, headlight type, aim, bumper height, width, etc, etc, etc. Nothing about wheels.

LIABILITY is HUGE. The beadlocks integrity is only as good as the person who mounted the tire on them, If you dont get them well centered and evenly bolted down they can be dangerous at high speeds. even if they got the NHTSA approval the manufaturers wouldnt likely quit disclaiming, unless there was a larger market for street legal beads and they pass on the liabilty to installer by requireing install by certified beadlock installer.

I decided paying my mortgage was more important than having beadlocks, so I sold mine.

sorry folks I have not been on here very much. I decided it was to time consuming to fight with them on this and I just paid the fine and purchased street wheels to avoid messing around with this all together, then I relocated to Seattle, WA to boot.

What are you doing up that way?

Working for M$ needed work and nothing was panning out in SLC, and nothing like some good old fashion change to shake up your life...

Oh and I miss my Jeep something mad... weather has been spectacular here, 29 days straight with no rain.

Yeah, no joke. All your rain has been here. Seriously!
