I haven't even begun to pack, still have to finish with the tools so I can pack them first, I do have all day tomorrow though.

is anyone planning on meeting me at Cabelas, or are we all just meeting at Loon on Wed night?

Having said that, are we gonna get together for dinner (read: at an actual restaurant) that evening? If so, this may influence our route. Carson City might be too early, for example. Would we rather aim for South Lake Tahoe? Or perhaps gamble with one of the tiny towns in the area?

I'll be stopping in South Tahoe for dinner. I still haven't picked a restaurant. I'm guessing we'll be there around 7PM. Anyone who wants to is welcome to join us. We'll probably be anxious to get to the trail so we'll go somewhere quick.

Looks like North Shore Campground is where we will likely end up camping. It is $10 per night with a limit of 2 vehicles per site. The other sites are $22 per night and might require reservations from what I can see. I doubt anyone would mind sharing a site and an extra vehicle has a fee(not sure how much) so I'm guessing if I can find 3-5 sites next to each other that would allow all 9 rigs it should be good.

I am willing to show up and put the money down to reserve the sites as long as they are open, I know you guys will pay me back since I will know where you will be sleeping for the next couple days. Let me know what you guys think on how many sites we need.

thanks Brian. North Shore Campground should be perfect. I have a national parks pass, so I don't think I'll need to pay.

My target is to meet you in South Lake Tahoe at 7 since I'll be in the Jeep. I'll call you during the day to coordinate.

I am! I certainly don't fear making the trip solo--I've criss-crossed the country by myself over a dozen times--but it might be nice to have another vehicle or two in proximity.

This sounds great. Thanks for fronting the payment; I'll be glad to hand you some cash upon my arrival.

Alternately, we'll all be going through Carson City around 5:30 or 6 and there's a great bbq place on the main drag that I've been to. Reds Old 395 Grill

It sounds like you're thinking of a different place than Maverick. From what I found, North Shore campground is located at Loon Lake.

North Shore campground web site said:
Location: Located on the northwest shore of Loon Lake in the Crystal Basin, approximately 31 miles north of Highway 50 via Ice House Road (Primary Forest Route 3). Where Ice House road forks to go to Loon Lake or Gerle Creek Campground, take the Loon Lake fork to the right.

Or maybe I'm the one who has the wrong North Shore campground?

Definitely was thinking of the different campground. I was thinking north shore of Lake Tahoe not North Shore of loon lake. There are really good camp spots for free about 100 yards in to the Rubicon Trail but I guess it might be nice to be in a camp ground so that you actually have a bathroom for the last time before you start packing your business around with you.

I was going to post this up last night but forgot. It's a map of all the campgrounds.

Thanks Brian, I will only need 1 spot or 1 shared spot. Lane
