I think I found my overheating while towing problem….

Looks factory fresh? This is what mine has looked like both times I've had it out and I'm sure it looks like this again by now.

But never had any overheating issues because of it. Or seen any difference after cleaning it or last time, replacing it. Just way different applications I guess. But the 4.0 seems to give zero shits.

I have only been having issues pulling my big billboard…errrr enclosed trailer that weighs 6k lbs empty with my Jeep inside it…so roughly 10-11k lbs. On the flats it does fine but as soon as there is a grade towards a pass it starts to get warm. When I was coming home from trail hero in October the ambient temps were about 100° and the grade between the laverkin exit and new harmony caused coolant temps to spike to about 240° while staying out of it and doing 55-60 mph. It probably would have been fine had ambient temps been in the 60s and not gotten much warmer than 225°. I’ve been putting this off for a few years and it was time to finally take care of it. Excited to see the difference when I go to KOH in a few weeks. Also to note, truck was totally fine when driving empty. Maybe your jeep would hate it if you put a heavy trailer behind it too? 😂

My Jeep would simply refuse to obey and not move with a big trailer behind it.

It's spent most of It's life loaded way over It's rated cargo capacity but it would draw the line at towing.

I really do wonder if that is your issue though. That just looks like a legitimately negligible amount of material. I doubt any radiator on any truck I've ever owned has been that clean.
