Upgraded the factory 2000 XJ trans cooler to a B&M plate style and bypassed the radiator tank heat exchanger.
The B&M unit is girthy and required some custom bracketry for mounting it in front of the main cooling fan to clear the AC condenser and grill.
I plan on repurposing the factory cooler (Modine unit) for the PS fluid. E93AC184-D41E-4296-B2D6-3BBD4BB5CB49.jpeg

Today I was reminded how much I hate working on front wheel drives.... alternator took a poop on the TDI. Also after ordering a new one I think it must be gold plated.

Let me start by saying... I have always wanted to learn how to weld but with two young kids (3 and 4) and a crazy work schedule classes never panned out. So, last summer I bought a Miller 140 from a friend who does a LOT of metal work. He upgraded and sold it to me cheap, otherwise I probably never would have pulled the trigger. I decided to just grab some scrap from him and teach myself (with tips from my buddy and youtube of course). The art of welding always intrigued me, I have a huge amount of respect for metal fabricators.

Anyway, we recently built a new house and my wife told me to do the garage how I want it. My last garage had a big work bench that I built from wood and I liked it initially but it got pretty beat up over time. When we moved it was left for the new owners. I knew I wanted a metal bench for the new garage. So, what does someone who barely knows how to weld do? You guessed, go buy a bunch of material and jump in head first.

This was my first real welding project and I learned a TON! My first welds were pretty shitty (not a better way to put it), towards the end they actually started to look a little bit like I knew what I was doing. The best part is, it's actually square and level! I went and finished off the legs with some spray on bed liner so I could power wash or mop the floor and not have it rust. I am pretty stoked on how it turned out.

As always I should ave taken more picture, but I was in the zone and super motivated to get it done.
