Here we go... 1969/70 Chevy C10/K20 projects

Make sure the points aren't too tight/loose. Start with about 0.018". That should get it to idle, assuming everything else was in decent working order. From there, I dial them in with a dwell meter, then get my timing correct. I would expect it to fire with a bad condenser, it would just eat...

    Can we talk dogs?

Here's a couple shots of our 2yr Corgi. He does a good job herding the kids around and keeping the yard free of cats. He loves hiking with us, and that low center of gravity allows him to climb like a goat. We introduced him to our new SxS over the weekend at Sand Hollow. He kept jumping in so...

    Who knows 220 motors?

Does it just hum then trip after a short period? Pull that hump cover on the motor and check for a bad starting capacitor.

    Diesels and Block Heaters

Check/replace your glow plugs and maybe the glow plug relay. It isn't cold enough to keep one from firing if a majority of the glow plugs are functioning. We had a 90's 7.3 PSD that was horrible in the cold until all the glow plugs were replaced. My Cummins (grid heater in the intake) has not...

    Airbags VS. WDH?

My toyhauler has a 1000lb tongue weight. I brought it home with a late 90s half ton without using a WDH. The front floated. I bought an Equalizer 4-Way and set it up so that my front axle weight was the same when connected to the trailer as it was without the trailer. There was a very slight...

    Jeep CJ5 seats issues

A few years ago I modified the fender for more leg room on a friend's CJ5. I marked and carefully cut out the section of fender, then flipped what was cut and welded it back in place with very little patching required. It allowed full seat travel like in a 7, and the stock suspension didn't flex...

    Best 3 row Crossover/SUV?

We had a 2012 Buick Enclave (Acadia and Traverse triplet). In '13 they got a refresh, but don't know when the 2nd refresh was. We logged 150k on it before we got rid of it to downsize. My wife and I loved the Buick. Silent at speed and very comfortable. 22-24mpg highway with AWD on ours. It...

    Can we talk tool chests?

I've had the exact box pictured in post #105 for at least 10yrs. Also have the add on side cabinet. They've really been great. Top is full of sockets (deep sockets are vertical on a Craftsman socket holder). I should go buy another add on cabinet. I wish the whole unit was a few inches deeper...

I need to be schooled in SXS's

At that price range you could be in a brand new Honda Pioneer 700-4, if that is big enough for you. A few thousand more gets you into a Pioneer 1000-5 or Yamaha Wolverine x4 (if you can find either one). My buddy got the wolverine earlier this year for his growing family and really enjoys it...

Personal GPS or SAT Trackers (or APRS options) talk

I have a Spot Gen3. The Garmin 2 Way wasn't a thing yet, or I would have gotten that instead. I've had it for years, slam new batteries in it every spring. It updates my location every 10 minutes, and I can set up the 4 different buttons with a message that I want (via their website prior to...

    The RME street moto gang

I'm in, for any of the routes, depending on day/time. Weekdays I could be at the zoo by 430. I missed the last one; looking forward to this. Riding to work every day isn't quite scratching the itch

Speaking of white letters out---how old are these tires?

That tire is still available, had them on my C10 from 2002. They had a normal 4 digit date code but I don't remember which side of the tire it was on (look on the black letter side as well). Installed a new set of tires on it this spring and it was between another set of BFG Radial T/A and the...

What Pre DEF Truck to Purchase

I love my '05 Cummins. Have had it for 10yrs and 90k miles (turned 150k today). If towing heavy, the auto is the wink link. The gear spacing is too far apart. A truck with the 6M makes a much better puller. My dad had an 01.5 HO 6spd (3.55 gears) and it was comparable to my truck even with mine...

    All things Camp Trailer

2010 Forest River Shockwave, 21ft. Perfect size for the four of us. Purchased brand new. Been a great trailer, just broke a drawer piece once. I lived in it for two years straight while working away from home, and it gave me enough room to use as a garage for the street bike during that time...
