General Tech What did you work on Today?

Thank you. I appreciate the comments and glad you like the videos. It's a mixed bag on trying to give people what they want. I get comments stating I talk too much and need to just show the work and many others say they like the detailed explanations. For me, I just like making the videos...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

That's come a long way. Very nicely done. My grandparents who lived in Rock Springs, WY had a back yard that looked very similar with the block garage and wood fence. My grandfather was a retired welder and mechanic from the coal mines and had a cinder block garage in the back yard where he...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

I do. It's nothing major, just some projects that I've worked on. I've only had it a few years and don't have many subscribers but I enjoy putting the videos together. It started out when I bought my new lathe and mill and some people on a forum I belong to wanted to see a review of them. My...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

Thank you. I do not know the gentleman who owns the engine. He contacted me through another forum and said he also follows my work on my YouTube channel and wondered if I was to do the repair how I would perform the work. I responded on how I would repair the case based on my past experience...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

This little job came to me all the way from Monroe, North Carolina. Between Saturday morning and last night I was able to perform a repair to this motorcycle engine case. The drain plug threads were stripped as well as an earlier attempt to repair and it looks like maybe some JB Weld was...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

It's a quick and simple little shop project but one that sure makes life easier on files rather than banging around with each other in a drawer. I built this particular one about 15 years ago and had it hanging above my old lathe at my last shop. Mike

General Tech What did you work on Today?

Good eye Russ. That was the actual project of the day that I only got part way done. It came to me from a gentleman in Monroe, North Carolina. It's a KZ125 engine case that needs to be welded and machined/repaired. Mike

General Tech What did you work on Today?

Saturday morning after a few cups of coffee while sitting on the deck I finally made it out to the shop to begin work. First order of business was to change the order of equipment along the wall on machinery row. I moved the vertical bandsaw a couple feet further south, then moved the bench...

No one does. Not even the Instagram welding gods. Welds look great as does the bumper. Mike

Jeep LS swap for the LJ

I just got home and double checked. Sorry, I misspoke, the input gear I have here is a 23-spline. I could have sworn it was 27-spline. Mike

Jeep LS swap for the LJ

I have an input shaft out of a NP247 sitting on my shelf that I am almost certain is a 27-spline. If you can shoot me the bearing diameter I can measure it tonight and see if it will work for ya. If so you can have it. Mike

    Coronavirus

I jokingly said this was the line for the rectal temperature readings and then said ' you can only come through the line once". It got a big laugh from all except HR. Mike

Jeep LS swap for the LJ

Advance Adapters makes a 32-spline input for the 241 model TC. That is what I used as my 6L80 had a 32-spline output shaft. Worked perfectly. *On edit, I think it may actually be a Novak input shaft and not AA. Mike

    Coronavirus

Yeah, we've been temping our associates since mid-last week. Personally I think it's BS because the temp guns that the company sent us and told us to ONLY use these are all reading low. The highest temperature I've personally seen has been 97.1 degrees and we're told if anyone exhibits a 100.4...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

Thank you. Although the shop is only about 3 years old now, I've been 30+ years collecting tools and equipment and I finally have the shop I've dreamt about my entire life. My last shop was nice but small. Thanks for the comments. Mike

Yeah, our portion was only 31 trailers, our company ordered just over 1k in total. Mike

General Tech What did you work on Today?

On Saturday morning I took about an hour and reassembled my Vertex rotary table that I disassembled and cleaned a couple of weeks ago. I noticed that the input shaft to the eccentric bore was fairly tight so after measuring I decided to polish the bore as well as the shaft that was off by a...
