Thoughts on 2002-2004 WJ... Will most likely (and hopefully shortly) be my new rig

I tow for scouts and for my own camping, just the added torque/hp a v8 brings would be nice. And since the 4.0 and the v8s aren't that dissimilar in mpg, that was my thinking. Trooper has mad flex in the rear and more than enough traction with the ls, but the front ifs was always the weak...

So, then, would the cooling and wobble be bealbrakers to everyone?

Nope, solid axles a must. Having had IFS, I'm not jumping to full. @jeeper, I saw your posting and almost jumped, but wifey wasn't completely on board with the car shakeup idea yet (getting a newer commuter too). Replacement isn't a dd, though it will be used for getting to/from trails, camp...

Thoughts on 2002-2004 WJ... Will most likely (and hopefully shortly) be my new rig

Apart from a few mentions about radiators having issues, needing correct coolant, I haven't read much about widespread issues. At least on the HO 4.7 anyway.

How much are replacement parts for said Disco when I break something? There are WJs in the yards all the time... I'm in Layton, actually. I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the heads up.

Thoughts on 2002-2004 WJ... Will most likely (and hopefully shortly) be my new rig

Hey guys. After all that has transpired with Trooper/Jiffy Lube, I've thought long and hard about my goals going forward. I've decided to get Trooper fixed up, running right, and sell him. Been a great rig, zero issues apart from this latest hiccup, but at nearly 23yrs and 225k miles, a...

Weird/Creepy things you've found on the trail

Awesome. My degree was in Russian with a Business minor. Думаю, что должны говорить только по-русски на RME. Xочешь? :D

Weird/Creepy things you've found on the trail

Where did you find that? And Stephen, do you speak Russian and did you translate that? If so, nicely done! I'd probably have said "firearms," but that's just me. Kлассно!

    Happy Thanksgiving

I hear pie fixes that right up... Glad you're okay, apart from the hand. Rest up, enjoy the food, watch a game. Good day to take a break.

Crap, guys.... This is my last year being out of town for holidays. Once Christmas hits, we're staying home and making the grandparents come to us! Next year!

Can't we all just get along

Those that are legitimately protesting most likely had nothing to do with it. Those like Michael Brown, that make poor decisions, use the protests to cover illegal activity. Hence the burning, looting, burning of cars, and attacks on police.

Spliced loom and overfilled oil.... Great way to start my first Moab trip!

I have everything for this already - plugs, wires, filter, oil, might even do a few O2 sensors. I'll do it, along with compression. Doesn't make it any less infuriating. While the tow would have been the best bet, the furious, pig-headed me that had dropped money on a deposit and really...

Spliced loom and overfilled oil.... Great way to start my first Moab trip!

This will most likely be the last word on the JiffyLube Saga. I was tired of being jerked around, played with, so I called up the RM and told him as much, that I wasn't willing to waste another day going to/from SLC to meet with him or not because he wouldn't give me a firm time. He said...
