I've not heard of much issue with the Xterras running the Titan diff. I know the Xterra and Frontys are near identical, but I've also witnessed multiple clutch failures on Frontys @ 30,000mi and no such issues on Xterras. It seems that they're not built the same. Regardless, from what I've seen...

Assuming he's got a second gen (2005-current), the OME equipment for the Xterra is the way to go if you're looking to get a better than stock ride while gaining a little clearance (1.5-2"). I ran OME shocks & coils with cheap AC lifted coils up front, and 2" lifted AC shacles & OME Nitrocharger...
