    Sixstringsteve's 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Non-Build Thread

I'll see what I can do, though it looks unlikely for a few weekends... I've used a lot of my points up in the past few days - a buddy drowned his Outback 30 miles outside Evanston (up by Bear River Lodge on Hwy 150) and I've been up there most of the weekend helping him bring it back to life...

Since it's in the same vein.... Chocflip, could you do sliders? And bumpers? For a '92 Trooper? :D

Looks like a good time, man! Seems like it can hold a whole lotta gear and get you there in comfort! Hope you figure out the t-case stuff, would be fun to get out on a trail or two with ya.

Would getting a big slab of 4 or 5" memory foam fix all the unevenness?

    Trooper guys!

Derp... I was looking at sixstringsteve's avatar as I wrote that. Haha. Apologies.

    Trooper guys!

Mine is old enough it didn't come with them, and I don't have enough offset to need them to pass inspection! I can ask the planetisuzoo forum for you, though. To clarify - you're wanting Isuzu factory but flexible to work on your Montero, right?

Nice, man. Love it. One if these will be on my short list when the eventual day comes that keeping my Trooper alive is too cost-prohibitive. Love the 7-pass seating (Trooper does currently) and the mix of all-around utility. As you've mentioned IFS/IRS is fine for most of what I do as well...

Are the Quarterly Trainings still a thing?

Sept/Oct plays well for me too. I don't have a winch yet, but a how-to would be killer.

Are the Quarterly Trainings still a thing?

Agreed. I couldn't attend the last one and have regretted it since.

If you'd have me, I'd join next time. Love that area up there, that's where I spent most of last summer.

General Tech What did you work on Today?

Three weeks ago - finished my seat swap. Two weeks ago - changed out all fluids and repacked bearings on trailer. Last week - it ran flawlessly to/from scout camp with 5 aboard towing the trailer. This week - fixed, welded, and painted my new-to-me roof rack.

Hardware ranch to bear lake in my Scout

There are rough roads up there, but not the main ones in from Logan Canyon. The road up to the top of Logan Peak (Mount Logan) has some interesting spots, with a great view from the top, and there are numerous roads through the Hollows of the main roads that can be challenging as well. The...

What's harder - Forest Lake or Mineral Basin?

Hmmm, food for thought. I think the idea was for a 'guys weekend' where we go up on a Friday after work, camp at Forest Lake, then Saturday hit Mineral and Mary Ellen. A true AF trails weekend. I think my friend was mostly interested in Mineral because he saw a youtube vid of rigs running...

What's harder - Forest Lake or Mineral Basin?

Good to know I wasn't off base. I'm far from new to wheeling, we start early in Idaho! There wasn't anything on Forest that I wouldn't take my Trooper on. I've done Rattlesnake without any issue numerous times. Friend in the JK is more about speed, which I can't stand to watch. Dad taught me...

What's harder - Forest Lake or Mineral Basin?

Just curious - ran Forest with a buddy and some coworkers (built TJ, TJU, and JK). With scout camp next week and with my luck being what it is, I just rode along/spotted and didn't tempt the breakage gods. After seeing it, pretty sure with some good lines my Trooper could handle it. Before...

Hole in the Rock, my slow crawl through Hell...

I'm amazed that you went after the initial omens and feelings as crappy as you did, but I can fully appreciate the desire to accomplish something you've been wanting for a long time. Nice to see you still took advantage of a crummy situation to enjoy where you were and what you were doing...
