    Ice fishin'

Just got back from Currant Creek, it was -28 at 7AM and it was a very chilly day. We caught fish in the morning but the afternoon was slow. I have some very frozen fish to clean once they thaw out.

Thoughts on 2002-2004 WJ... Will most likely (and hopefully shortly) be my new rig

We have an 02 Overland with the HO motor. We got it with 77K miles from an old retired guy. We have almost doubled the mileage since we drive it all over the place including some mild Moab wheeling. I have had to swap out the radiator (royal pain), replace the hydraulic fan hose, and both front...

Weird/Creepy things you've found on the trail

One time we took the jeep up to a lake in the Uintas and were fishing off the dam when several big vans pulled up and a group of about 20 women and one guy came across the dam and checked out the campground on the other side. The guy was dressed like Brigham Young and looked like him too (beard...

Weird/Creepy things you've found on the trail

One time we were out wheeling on the Stansbury range when we stopped at the end of the road in North Willow Canyon. It was late in the fall and we hadn't seen any vehicles on the trails. Just after we stopped to look around a guy came walking down the trail from the primitive area and he looked...

Weird/Creepy things you've found on the trail

This doesn't qualify as weird and creepy but we were out wheeling and camping next to the Air Force bombing range when the F16 pilots did something cool. We were sitting near the fence watching the different groups of F16 do their practice bombing and strafing runs when one group came into view...

    Stroker + H2O = a mess

I plan on checking the bearings out and trying to find out where the water came from. The main reason for not wanting premium is that we use this rig on long expeditions and premium gets pricey out in the far away places.

    Stroker + H2O = a mess

I lost the contact info and can't remember where he lived. Plus I got rid of all my extra blocks.

    Stroker + H2O = a mess

No suggestions on a good shop that is familiar with Jeep strokers ? I called the shop that supposedly built it but the guy didn't seem to know that there were options to using the 258 short rods.

    Stroker + H2O = a mess

I picked up a low mileage 4.6 stroker motor from a guy on KSL. He told me it ran great when he took it out. It was out in his canvas garage but it looked like he had covered up all of the openings. I wanted to check everything out before putting it in my Jeep and when I drained the oil I got...

Weird/Creepy things you've found on the trail

We have found many things in our adventures. One spring we found a Jeep that had slid off the road up in the Uintas. It was full of personal items that you wouldn't normally find in someones car and it was obvious that it had spent the winter up there. We called it in and the police asked us to...

    4.6 Stroker fuel question

I picked up a low mileage 4.6 stroker and have been trying to figure out what parts it has in it so that I can make it work well. It came with newer EV6 Ford 24 lb/hr injectors which from all of my reading should work well with the motor. I have seen that some people use the Hesco adjustable...

Were you doing algebra in 3rd grade?

In the dark ages when I was in school we didn't get to learn algebra till junior high. My dad taught shop and I still get a kick out of his interesting "builder tricks" for cutting wood which are just simple ways to do geometry without calling it math. My kids got algebra problems in elementary...

    Chevy Dana 44 axle shafts

I did a quick check in the basement and it looks like the long axle shaft down there is 35.25" long (J series Jeep truck). The chevy ones are mostly 36.125". I still have some out in the garage but they will take more digging to check out.
