We were out at the tear a part and the first two vehicles on the lot are a 72 Scout 2 and a 74? Scout 800. The scout 2 should still be on the road. Lots of good parts for you scout lovers. I even took some parts for the 72 CJ I am fixing up.

I have a 454 TBI hanging around in the garage if you could use it. I put a 350 TBI on my commando with a 350 sbc. I used the factory harness from a chev truck and deleted what I didn't need.

I would guess that your timing is off. Set your motor at top dead center then check the rotor which should be pointing at cylinder one. If you have the newer style distributor with the multi coil pack you will need to find out how they time it (I haven't done one of those yet).

I have lots of the six lug parts, we did the opposite swap.

On mine I moved the front axle forward 3 inches so I had to do different fenders. Plus the front was beat up and ugly. I like how mine turned out and it clears the tires when it flexes.

On my 73 commando I used a CJ7 hood and grill but made my own fenders. The cj7 fenders will fit but they don't go all the way down the body where they bolt to the tub. You can find my build thread under "family commando build project".
