I had a 2000 f150 with the 5.4, this was back when I was horrible about maintenance, and it was a really good truck, decent milage, abou 16 mpg. great ride, and the motor was smooth, it left a lot to be desired when you put a trailer on the back though.

I've got 4 points in the chevy, I always have the lap belt fastened, on or off road. I only use the shoulder straps when I'm trying an obstacle that I could roll on. I am planning on reinstalling the stock 3 points to use around town and so I can put my kids car seat in the truck.

I would first go over the safety inspection manual line by line, and fix as much as possible. Unfortunately, most shops are getting pretty strict because UHP has been coming back on them hard, a lot of fines. I used to be able to register anything I wanted, till my connection got busted, now...
