Thanks for the advice. It's helpfull. I think I might stay with the 3.4, I'm sure I can get close to 200 hp from it for a reasonable price. The 3.8 sounds nice though but I don't know about using hard mounting plates in an XJ. Has anyone done that before?

    New Idea

I think it's a good idea but I wouldn't enter myself. I just don't like the idea of the limitations. Especially if I run the vehicle in my leisure time I wouldn't want to be restricted on what I do to it.

    Has this been done?

If you do that, don't weld it. Use a plate and center pin to secure it to the frame. I saw a spring that was welded to the frame and broke off at the weld because to the twisting and binding placed on the weld.

What do you think of the new TJ long-arm lifts?

I like the LCG kit but I would never pay for it. Fabtech's nice. I like blue:)

    Something Different

My coworker at MR 4x4 had problems with his electric shift, it wasn't a big deal though, just the actuator needed replaced. I didn't mean they weren't good or anything like that though, I'm sure they work great. I agree, they certainly do flex better than any A arm IFS. I'd like to see more...

    Something Different

I just don't like the 12" of flex you can expect even with a 6" skyjacker kit w/rear springs. Transfer cases in those are Borg Warners. Most of them are electrically activated.

Well at least a motor plate would be easy to do, but I'm not real sure how I would do one with my unibody. Maybe it'll work. I don't think I would really like all the vibration either since my cherokee is my daily driver, not my 4 wheel rig. What cars are the northstar's found in anyway...

So does that mean I can bolt the 3.8 front wheel drive engine to my trans. What do I do for motormounts?

I was thinking the 3.8 was a 90* engine also. It's not listed on my 60* forum as a 60* engine. Now, I'm not as concerned with emissions. I'm sure whatever I get it'll run cleaner than the motor I have now. What's a shortstar? I've heard about them all the time but I really don't know...

Thanks for the help. I was kinda thinking of the Holley 670 cfm throttle body fuel injection kit and hyperutectic (spelling?) pistons. That along with some other goodies like a cam and roller rockers. I figure I might as well get that out of the way while I'm at it. So with that in mind do...

This has been on my mind, mybe someone can help me. Soon I'm replacing my worn out 1984 chev carbed 2.8 V6 with a 95 or newer low mileage chev 3.4 fuel injected V6. I'm not even sure if this is legal or not since the engine wasn't origionally offered in this vehicle, so are there legal...

    leaking TRANSMISSION

If it's your living then you should know that there's a more than one marine transmission. Capitol, ZF, Hurth, and Paragon to name a few. This was a Borg Warner Velvet ride, and it wasn't an oil pan we repaired, it was between the front and rear case assemblies.

Filling in the crack with a weld is really the only thing you can do. Grind a grove where the crack is, fill it in and grind it down with an angle die grinder. To fix the warp there's not a lot of options. You could take it to a tranny shop and have them machine it (the expensive way) or you...
