Unfortunately this was the biggest reason I quit buying wrecked vehicles to rebuild many years ago. Back before they branded the titles I would have my wife in a nice fairly new vehicle every couple of years and did a lot of rebuilds for friends and family members. Then when they started...
It's hard to read the pattern in the pictures. Personally I don't like using the Prussian Blue for this reason. I prefer using actual gear marking compound in either yellow or white as it is much easier to read a pattern as well as it doesn't smear or drag like the bluing does.

Looks like a cool project.
Back in the early 90's my father in law hired me to build a 1974 Power Wagon with a 440 cid engine for my wife's younger brother. It took me about 2 months to go through it mechanically and fix leaks, service engine, transmission and TC, freshen up suspension and...
Like others have said, the 2012 and newer have the Pentastar engine and a few more ponies under the hood. The downside is they are a bit more temperamental compared to the previous 3.8 liter engine. I would try to avoid the 2012's due to the first year model and had some growing pains in the...
You may be correct. I cannot confirm the WJ is the same as the others but can that the TJ/LJ/XJ/ZJ are all interchangeable. I may have taken a liberty with stating the WJ is the same as I have not interchanged axle shafts into one of those specifically.
Thanks for the correction.
Mike
Exactly, the D30's under the LJ, TJ and XJ are all the same, the JK's are however longer. Even the ZJ's and WJ's D30's are the same as the previously mentioned but originally they were CV style but are interchangeable with u-joint style shafts.

So with about 1200 trouble free miles on the new drivetrain and all fluids changed and everything looking good I decided to tackle my navigation setup installation.
I had a little bit of time yesterday so I decided to install my Vector Off-Road full-width dash bar that I picked up a while back...
Yesterday after we returned from breakfast I had a couple of things I wanted to do in the shop.
I have grown tired of chasing my cutoff disks around the drawer so I machined a few aluminum standoffs and secured them in the drawer as pegs to store a few of my more commonly used cutoff and...
Saturday my son and I cut the spare tire well out of his WJ floor.
We then cut his tank skid. We removed a 6.5" section from it to tuck the tank up tight to the underside of the body.
We then cut a 5”x2.75” hole through the left rear frame rail in which to run the fuel fill tube and a...
Pics in post #123 look much better.
Like 4x4_Welder mentioned a little light on filler material.
Similar to what he does to get up to that upper piece on a lap joint, I get my puddle molten and then push in the filler to actually raise the puddle up to just kiss that upper edge on the upper...
You can find a lift out fairly reasonable but you then run the risk of getting one that also is on its last leg. You can definitely replace it with a lift out (maybe even a couple) for less money than a rebuild. That being said I like to do things myself and if mine went I would rebuild it...
On TJ's I have installed either Ten Factory or Superior with good results but I have also heard good things about the Yukon, just no first hand experience with those in particular.
If you order them from Northridge and don't have access to a press they do offer a service that will basically...
Nothing too exciting the past few days.
Last night we had a few minutes so we cut the spare tire well out of my son's WJ so we could start the tank tuck and bumper build.

I am selling my Bestop Trektop NX off of my JKU. This top has only been on my Jeep for 4 seasons (May thru October) and hasn't been on the past two years. It is in excellent condition and has all of the associated hardware needed to install the top onto your 4-door Jeep Wrangler.
These tops...
