    Lame Joke Thread

Well now I feel crappy. Hopefully someone can come in and lift us up above these foul winds.

    New Mbryson tow pig...”Sweaty Betty” - 2010 F350 V10

Nice. I like the sound of the V10 with a nice open exhaust. One thing to be aware of, though, is those engines have an issue with the timing chain tensioners, especially the right side one. It's not a big deal until you get into 200k+ or tons of idle/PTO time, but it's a bit of a cascading...

    Tell me about your shop

When running air, make sure you keep a fairly continuous slope to the line, and add a drain point on every drop. Unless you run a chiller air dryer, you will have moisture in the air. I like to run the whole line on a slight down slope away from the compressor, with a dedicated drain drop at...

Talk me out of a Pontiac G8?

You're making me miss my fast car, it's sitting in storage while the insurance of the ass clown that hit me tries to only pay 1/3 it's value. My wife wants something new (like we can afford that) so the Explorer and that will most likely be gone.

Anyone here ever register a free car at the DMV?

Must be nice. Back in WA I had to prove the beat to death oil burning rotted out 99 Durango my sister in law gave me wasn't worth the $3k their system said it was. I wound up going to the library and printing out the KBB value on it. High retail wasn't even $2500, trade in was $50. Oregon...

    Tell me about your shop

There are fully engineered plans available online. They cost money, but less than having someone design one from scratch, and many come with full code enforcement approval.

    Male breast cancer

I met with the oncologist last week, and while there isn't any other place that obviously has cancer, with the amount that was in the lymph nodes they want to do chemo. I'm not looking forward to this. Four cycles of it, over a twelve week span. Hopefully this'll clear out anything that's left.

Can't recommend the in floor heating enough, it makes a huge difference in winter wrenching. It also, overall, makes the place cheaper to heat, and it is possible to add in a wood or oil burning heater. This is something that you can add during the planning/construction process, but can't do...

    1992 Land Rover Defender 110

I have found that alternatives to Dyna mat really help with the tin can sound/feel. I lined the firewall and floor of my 69 F250 diesel conversion with the foil backed roof seal tape, but the biggest single change was a 6" square of the stuff on the underside of the roof. A similar piece...

My Daughter just got pulled over in my Jeep for tire coverage.

Time to go back to the days of garden edging flares.

OBD II code reader / app

I run a Kyocera Brigadier as my current phone, I had one of the sapphire shield ones but it had gravitational incident. I've actually had three of these Brigadiers, they hold up well and have good enough specs to handle quite a bit of work.

    1992 Land Rover Defender 110

Interesting. What's the real world result with those headlights? I have two trucks that run round sealed beams, I was going to upgrade my F250 to removable bulb style ones, but the total cost would only be about $20 less than those LEDs.

    Male breast cancer

Thanks for the support. It's been a real mixed situation, on the one hand it really sucks and is going to continue to suck for a while, but on the other hopefully some awareness can come from this, and save someone from having it get much worse.

    Male breast cancer

A bit of an odd topic, I know. Not one I ever put any thought into, most guys never think about it because breast cancer only happens to women, right? Well, this past year I found out otherwise. I found a lump in my chest, and after some convincing from my wife went and got it checked out...

    Building for overland adventures

These pics are from January of 2017. Currently the truck is sitting in the Boise area, I haven't made any further progress on it since then. This is the approximate height it'll be sitting at. I'll end up trimming the front and rear of the wheelwell opening to prevent rubbing. The engine...

This is how it last sat as a 2WD pickup. I got the last two new front fenders in the country to fix the rust up there. I also have new doors.

Wanted In need of 245/75R16 tires

I can give about $250 for a decent set of take off. I know lots of people buy trucks with smaller tires and upgrade them pretty quick.

    Building for overland adventures

I initially thought about the NP205, but I'm not sure about the anemic low range. The engine has a power profile very similar to the Ford 300-6, it's a bit shorter of a stroke than diesels would usually have. I don't plan on turning it up too much, and I did run a 208 behind a hot 300 without...
