Are the Quarterly Trainings still a thing?

Solution: leave your folks at your house and bring your wife with you. :D

Suggestions for nearby overnight trip with the wife?

Hmm, I hadn't thought of Cedar City. The distance is about at this trip's upper limit, though cruising at 80 MPH will get us there relatively quickly. I'll have to run this option up the flagpole and see how she reacts. I had purposely not mentioned Wendover to her simply because we are not...

Suggestions for nearby overnight trip with the wife?

In the next week or two my wife and I are looking to take a short overnight trip somewhere. I doubt we would drive much more than 3 hours to get there, so that gives us a realistic radius of only ~ 200 miles. This trip will definitely take place on a weekday, and before any of you even bring...

Are the Quarterly Trainings still a thing?

Friday night is probably best for me; Saturday would be very difficult due to work. I once told Steve I was willing to teach a class on locking differentials--I suppose I could make you the same offer. ;)

    Funny video thread...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qU3N_u2nZo This is funny for three reasons: 1: I LOLed at their "dramatic" theme music. 2: it is an illustration of why Steve unloaded that Mitsubishi so quickly. 3: Equipped for anything, eh? That's what my lockers and winch are for.

    Recommendations for exhaust shop

No, he does not have a mandrel bender. Don't let that stop you. You can always buy some bulk mandrel bends, carry them to his shop, and have him fab up exactly what you want. That's what I have done, anyway. +1 for Rick's Muffler.

    Northern Utah Forrest lake sat

^^ I have often wondered about this, also. As I told Ryan, had I been up there to witness this, I would have filmed it and turned it in to the authorities... or would that be a bad idea? What should we do when we see obvious destruction and/or rule breaking?

Super moon and Perseids meteor shower

This year, the Perseid shower peaks on the night of August 12th (Tuesday) into the morning of the 13th (Wednesday). Sadly, it seems the waning gibbous moon will be visible all night long, which is detrimental to watching meteors... but the Perseid shower is known for producing meteors which are...

    What's in a brake controller?

More info, just in case you're unfamiliar with the subject. I have this Curt controller in my Suburban. It is classified as a "cheap" controller since it is a simple time-based unit. I can select the amount of maximum brake force applied (represented by the digital display, in...

    Sixstringsteve's 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Non-Build Thread

For the curious (including myself), I went searching Car and Driver to see what they had to say about this generation Montero. They compared a 2005 Montero Limited to five other similarly-sized SUVs. Here is how they described the Montero: EDIT: the Montero reviewed has the larger 3.8L...

Are the Quarterly Trainings still a thing?

I remember when I was willing to share some information about differentials and lockers of various types. I would be willing to commit to this again, schedule permitting. (And with enough advance notice, I should be able to make it fit into my schedule.) Even if recovery has been a common...

    Help with failed emissions

If local cats break the bank, call Don's Hot Rod Shop in AZ 800-888-8892. They have universal replacement cats for $60-$90 (last time I needed one, anyway).
